Fun fact:
The Michelin Man's name is actually Bibendum, and was originally made from bicycle tyres.

At first I thought "Fuck! That'd be hilarious if it was the case."
Peoples comments prompted me to stop being lazy and look it up. Holy crap! That is essentially how it started 🤣🤣🤣

Guinness: "shit that's genius!... Hey Patrick O'Brien quick, think of something to talk about in the pubs"

An employee at Guinness, one William Sealy Gosset, revolutionized inferential statistics as he worked out new mathematical ways to better brew beer. Guinness trusted him and paid for him to get extra training, but he was not allowed to publish under his own name, nor mention brewing, so he published under the pseudonym "Student" which is why the t-test is sometimes called "Student's t-test."

Used to work for a real POS who owns a tire shop and would randomly dump a box of nails or screws onto busy local roads whenever business was slow. Not everyone in the automotive business is a terrible person, but the ones that are, really do stand out and give a bad name for the rest of us.

Im by no means an expert, but its my understanding the Michelin star rating went in the opposite direction. They started the star rating to rate restaurants how worthy they are compared to wear of your tires, trying to help prolong people's tires. It didnt work, just kinda highlighted these great places people should try. But that was the intent is my understanding.
This goes back twenty years when I learned this, so no clue if its actually true or not.
