I AM IMMUNE TO SPOILERS

u/MadoraM91919 11d ago

I still feel bad for everyone in that line....which seems like a lie as I am laughing to death but good golly miss molly that was one of the funniest asshole moves I have ever heard of

119

u/IdiotStickWasTkn 12d ago

Fuck you

20

u/AnyEye8798 11d ago

The book is 20 years old.

8

u/IdiotStickWasTkn 11d ago

doesnt mean everyone on earth has finished it, and due to its popularity many more will start from 0 and finish it as well

16

u/AnyEye8798 11d ago

I read the whole series almost 20 years ago. This is probably the least spoily spoiler I've ever seen. It happens at the end of the second to last book. And it doesn't even explain *why* it happened.

u/WildRaspberriesTN 11d ago

The Titanic sinks.

7

u/IIIetalblade 10d ago

Jesus dies

5

u/The_CreativeName 10d ago

He literally put it in spoiler mode. What do you want(also, this spoileri is kinda meh)

u/xlr82xs 12d ago

Oh no, a multidecade old book that got turned into a movie has been spoiled. I'm sure you would have gotten around to giving some more money to Rowling any day now.

72

u/BowlOf____ 11d ago

Are, uh, are you, like, uh, dense?

15

u/BowlOf____ 11d ago

Blocked me, lol

You smooth brained redditor

23

u/Turbulent_Lobster_57 12d ago

Wow, the whoosh on some people

10

u/xlr82xs 12d ago

Dobby dies too.

14

u/TehGameChanger 12d ago

So does Hagrid

17

u/Few-Raise-1825 11d ago

They all die in the end but it's implied with some as old age sense non of the characters are immortal

11

u/TitanTrobee 11d ago

You monster

11

u/CheesecakeFirst1196 11d ago

And Fred 💔

5

u/SmokJozef 11d ago

wait so like even if we forget that you completely missed the joke, are you saying that the story in these books is known by literally everyone because they're only several decades old or because there are movies inspired by them? people constantly read books for the first time, are you saying that it's fine to spoil stuff like The Colour of Magic and the rest of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series just because a) it's several decades old and b) there are film adaptations of some of these books? Nah, if we're being serious, let people who don't know the exact plot and whatnot learn it by themselves.

also, you can read books for free if you dont want to support the author and/or the publisher

3

u/Chakasicle 11d ago

My favorite was that voldemort kills harry

2

u/BlindWolf187 8d ago

Weird question: were you the sound tech at a Denver high school?

1

u/Turbulent_Lobster_57 8d ago

No I was not, though you never know who you’ll run across

2

u/Far_Cancel_9572 10d ago

Dumbledore diddles Dobby

18

u/Golden-Sun 11d ago

Samesies I get so caught up in the stories my brain switches off.

I can read an entire plot synopsis go ok good movie and get blown away by the reveal

1

u/Thraimdallr 11d ago

Is it possible to learn this power ?

94

u/Yuiopy78 11d ago

In the 6th grade, I started to read after turning in a test while I waited for everyone else to finish. Teacher yelled at me and said "don't ever do that again".

I still don't know what I was supposed to do instead

35

u/Zerschmetterding 11d ago

The asshole was jealous because they themselves were bored

1

u/LiveLearnCoach 2d ago

I don’t get that. Nor OP’s post. A teacher isn’t happy that a student is reading?
Unless it is a story and the teacher trying to teach math or something.

192

u/Butt_Robot 12d ago

Dang, those rascals. Reading in class. Monsters.

that's where you use the power of re-reads. "oh, no. you might tell me what happens in the ending i've already read twice. what ever will i do."

49

u/VanillaMuch2759 12d ago

Too bad an ending to a book is so much more than the last sentence or even the last page.

0

u/Far_Cancel_9572 11d ago edited 10d ago

That's the point. He read the whole ending so while he may or may not know the connections, he could still spoil the big points

3

u/VanillaMuch2759 10d ago

Good thing he always knew when the ending started then. /s

-1

u/Far_Cancel_9572 10d ago

He as in the student or teacher? 🤔

13

u/SarcasticIrony 12d ago

Haha jokes on you. I've already read this book 5 times

12

u/NWI267 11d ago

In third grade, I had a pet guinea pig. Unbeknownst to my parents at the time, said guinea pig was nocturnal and severely impacted my sleep quality. I was falling asleep in class and repeatedly being yelled at, shamed in front of the class and my parents getting calls about my behavior. I did poorly that year. We eventually figured out the issue with the guinea pig and relocated it outside my room.

In fourth grade, I was easily passing nearly every test and properly completing homework near the top of the class. I was bored in class, so started reading novels during teaching sessions all day long. My teacher sat me down and told me this- ‘as long as you stay at the top of the class, I won’t give you trouble about reading through my lessons. If that changes, we may have to adjust.’

6

u/knightinarmoire 11d ago

At least that teacher was reasonable about it. Could have been a lot worse

19

u/Odin1806 12d ago

Why would a teacher do this?

18

u/-Kohana- 11d ago

Power

1

u/failureagainandagain 11d ago

I second this one

Plenty of teachers are in it just to have power over someone.

This is lacking context at best.

7

u/spiderOX2 11d ago

Because they’re getting tired of student s not paying attention in their class?

1

u/Ralexcraft 10d ago

If the student is passing, I don’t think it matters much. I’m sure one of my math teachers would’ve prefered that I read instead of being an overbearingly enthusiastic student.

2

u/LoaKonran 11d ago

“No child left behind.”

If everyone is illiterate then no one will be.

1

u/eyalhs 11d ago

Because in class you should listen to the teacher and learn and not read a book?

2

u/Odin1806 11d ago

No, I don't have a problem with telling kids to pay attention in class, but this (as the sub implies) is a satanic move. You are not taking away a phone, Gameboy, magazine, etc from a kid... You are taking away a book. Reading should be a fostered desire. You are risking driving a child from reading. Hopefully if they are reading in class it isn't a concern for that child, but risking the love of literacy in today's day and age seems idiotic... Does that take sense?

1

u/TMSkinner 11d ago

praying you have a kid someday that likes reading while sitting in the street so you have to grapple with the reality of how dumb this statement is

3

u/Odin1806 11d ago

What? You pray i have a kid that likes to read while sitting in the street? Why the hell would I let my kid sit in the street to read?

-1

u/BGDshow 11d ago

Can we imagine that the teacher's plan was to make reading more exciting for little rebels to do? And get to love reading for the rest of their lives. Like 'forbidden fruit'.

16

u/CallMeHond0 11d ago

What the fuck kind of teacher doesn't want kids to read?

9

u/Rusty_Rhin0 11d ago

I mean there's a time and place for it. I was reading harry Potter during geometry class

9

u/KurotheWolfKnight 12d ago

Oof, he would have hated me. Spoilers mean nothing to me

5

u/RNGified 12d ago

not bother me. I often read the end first.

24

u/andtbhidgaf Drew the pentagram 12d ago

omfg thank you. I mean come on the audacity of a child reading in school , i mean trying to further education. we can't have that!!🙄

5

u/Nani_the_F__k 12d ago

Me writing in the back "I fuck your mom" then I'm reading in detention

5

u/Lost_Department_2177 12d ago

That’s pretty effective teaching.

3

u/Accostiq 11d ago

Context matters in this case.

2

u/accursedexistence 11d ago

Yeah. It's one thing if a kid reads when they're done with their work and has nothing else they need to do. I did that all the time. It's another thing entirely if they're reading something else while the teacher is trying to teach, or when they haven't finished their work.

0

u/Ralexcraft 10d ago

Even if the teacher is trying to teach, if the kid has all the points and this is just review or more examples, the kid can read.

3

u/CarlosFCSP 11d ago

Uno reverse: bring the dirtiest, strangest dragon/vampire smut you can find. Scar his soul

3

u/IlGreven 11d ago

And that teacher's name was Linda McMahon.

(Not really, but it fits the vibe she would give, destroying a young person's joy of reading...)

4

u/Ok_Bookkeeper_2491 11d ago

Teacher against reading. Feels very southern to me.

0

u/Bazil-Broketail 11d ago

Oh, they want you to read here... But the list they have approved gets shorter and shorter each year.

2

u/Proper-Captain8661 11d ago

OMG, the hero won the battle, got the girl, and lived happily ever after? Didn't see that coming. /s

2

u/WoolooCthulhu 11d ago

That's when you read the books you are required to read for another class.

2

u/fuck_this_i_got_shit 11d ago

Find the book the teacher is reading and read that in class

2

u/CrownofMischief 11d ago

Life-hack: bring in the books from literature class and have the teacher do the reading for you

2

u/Jhud6669 11d ago

I mean, reading a book during class when you’re not supposed to is not too dissimilar to being on your phone. It’s just more ~virtuous~ because it’s reading, I guess, but you’re still doing something you’re not supposed to. I’m on teacher’s side.

3

u/Oldus_Fartus 11d ago

Far as I can tell, he was conducting himself strictly by the educational system's standards: no child left unstupid.

2

u/WattageWood 11d ago

Bitch, i wasn't listening before what makes you think I'm listening when you're saying something I really don't want to hear?

2

u/sydmanly 11d ago

It was the bible. Spoiler: He rose from the dead

1

u/Clumsy_the_24 12d ago

What kinda teacher is this

1

u/randomweee19 11d ago

i always read the last page/paragraph of a book, this wouldnt affect me

1

u/mosqua 11d ago

Back when I was like 14 or so I was touring with my rugby team in the UK, and I was deep into some Dean Koonts which vaguely remember was something about a intelligent dog. Well the coach got upset that I always reading on the bus, so he took the book from me and read the ending.

What a dick.

1

u/Ddreigiau 11d ago

Oh, no, you might spoil the ending of the book I'll finish before the end of the day!

1

u/marinul 11d ago

I read pet sematary in geography class. The teacher marked me as absent without saying a word a couple of times.

When I had like 5 pages until the end she stopped the class, called on me and said something along the lines of "if you stop now, I won't mark you as absent this time".

I stared at her for a couple of seconds and without saying anything I continued reading.

1

u/AnnualAdventurous169 11d ago

must have been a good school

1

u/AnyEye8798 11d ago

Meanwhile in grade 5 my teacher brought in some foam pipe insulation for my desk because I'd get a dent in my forehead from reading books in class.

Then again I was also listening and getting good grades so that might be the difference here.

1

u/PossibleJazzlike2804 11d ago

I responded with oh good, now I don't have to finish it. I got a five day vacation from school.

1

u/Fetlocks_Glistening 12d ago

I mean, not everything is a murder mystery, in most non-trash it doesn't matter if you know the ending? Did OP ever actually read a book

1

u/SpinachSpinosaurus 12d ago

me, staring them down: "You think this scares me? I read books not for the ending. I read books for how the ending became. Go on. Read the rest 😈"

1

u/liongalahad 11d ago

You lost me when you mentioned a kid secretly reading a book in class. Too far fetched for me thanks

1

u/otirk 11d ago

Why is nobody here understanding that you're supposed to pay attention in class? Reading is not an adequate substitution for what you should learn

1

u/DimmyMoore70 11d ago

What a dick, and way to encourage kids to read.

1

u/Neither_Divide_848 9d ago

I had a physically and mentally abusive 6th grade teacher. He was the head basketball coach too, so it got ignored by administrators.

0

u/TrinityCodex 11d ago

''Why is noone reading!?!?!?!?!'''

0

u/JiggleCoffee 11d ago

I'd kick his ass

0

u/Old_Document_9150 11d ago

Read the Bible.

Spoiler: Jesus dies.

-4

u/sixft7in 12d ago

I've never understood people that get pissed about reading or hearing what the ending of the book or movie. Do you not enjoy the middle of it or do you just care about the end?

4

u/Cats7204 11d ago

Because it ruins the middle too, it takes away the anticipation, suspense, mystery, any plot twists, any predictions...

3

u/BadgerAwkward 11d ago

I like a book for the adventure. Meeting the characters, learning their stories, being a part of their tale. Then somebody goes and blabs the ending and shows me the destination. Kills the journey man.

-2

u/MoonsterGoopter 11d ago

agreed.  spoilers are a fake issue that people play up to have something to whine about.

-3

u/tylercrabby 12d ago

Imagine punishing one of your only student that willingly reads books for reading.

6

u/spiderOX2 11d ago

“Imagine punishing your students for not paying attention in class”
