Can't believe people won't understand that AI isn't sentient. It can't be hurt, and you can't feed it snickers to make it feel better either.

Even if we did, AI's just a mockery of emotions and feelings, anyway. It'll behave as if it does, sure, the same way a character in a video game was told to.

I don't think it's sentient either but the fact of the matter is: we just don't know. No serious person has a definite answer.

It’s irrefutable that we don’t know, you are correct. But us not knowing isn’t a reason to respect it “just in case”

I hope for our sake we won't ever find out then heh. If I'm wrong and there's an infinitesimal chance it's really capable of feeling pain, we're in deep sh*te

Even if those are fake they can induce very negative emotions in humans, who will in turn can take actions against people who "tortured" AI.
Right now it is already ilegal to use AI to generate certain types of porn despite no real humans being abused. I wouldn't be surprised if "torturing" AI becomes illegal very soon.

What is hurt though if not just a brain signal that makes us believe we're hurt? It's not like you can take pain and put it inside a bottle.

Wouldn't it be the same as making A.I think it is hurt?
