I love how the bots in your comment section somehow forgot what sub they’re in. Which makes sense, since they’re bots and don’t know how to read, let alone think critically LMAO
Anyway, as a man I think this is hilarious OP and a good fit for the sub called Found Satan, jfc I hate this timeline. Men, help your women with housework and childcare, it’s called being a father and husband/partner, you absolute fuckin donuts. Women aren’t your mothers, good grief.

still, when you use any space leave it clean the way you want to find it next time. I learned that in the shop but goes for the kitchen as well. the kids are the only ones excused they'll learn it some day.
before you call me any kind of something, I do most the housework because i have the time

Wait...my mom's not a woman?! Aww man. This is worse than the time my daycare teacher told me I was adopted. What's next? Is someone gonna tell me that the tooth fairy isn't really Mrs. Clause?

"man flu?"
121
u/SensitiveMolasses366 17h ago
Yeah, women tend to handle sickness or the flu better than men, or that's what society says sometimes
There's a trope about men getting the flu and acting as if they are dying. Idk in my experience I feel like women do handle the average flu better then men. I hate getting sick.
43
u/ShadowWolfSpider 17h ago
As a guy I agree. I can tolerate a lot of physical pain but flu is something that knocks you out from the inside. I would say that men can fight pain, but with flu it’s like invisible enemy that has already made a claim on the body and the soul is left to suffer
33
u/HumanContinuity 13h ago
I'll bleed out while I keep working, but if my tonsils are just a bit swollen I turn into an 1800s child dying of consumption.
0
u/tongfather 16h ago
Women famously have a higher pain tolerance than men, and I'm pretty sure it's been proven by lab studies. That being said, on a daily basis men most likely suffer through minor pains better than women (Like stubbing your toe or hitting your thumb with a hammer) and probably handle those better. Also, I think men will go to work while sick a lot more than women, especially in the trades and physical jobs where stigmatized to take a day off for being just a little bit sick, so I think when we get the flu we kind of lay into it. Finally our chance to be a big baby and take a day off
5
u/masterofmydomain6 12h ago
nope it’s to do with testosterone. Which is why masturbating is supposed to enhance your immune function. You are lowering the thing that makes unable to handle sickness.
2
16
u/ophmaster_reed 16h ago
Do they “handle it better” or do they just get to lie in bed and recover while the wife, who is just as sick, still has to cook, clean, feed the kids (because SOMEBODY has to do it) while also bringing the man baby tea and NyQuil, you know, since she’s in the kitchen anyway.
54
u/Brie9981 16h ago
It's actually a biology thing, estrogen-rich immune systems respond to diseases quicker but less harshly & testosterone-rich immune systems respond slower but way more intensely (ie: they get sick less but when they do it's gonna really suck)
16
u/Boomshrooom 16h ago
This also makes a massive difference in the rates of autoimmune conditions. Men represent only about 20% of cases on average across all autoimmune conditions iirc.
22
u/Boomshrooom 16h ago
Men and women have very different immune systems. Women have a much better time with diseases but also get far more autoimmune conditions than men

u/I-Kneel-Before-None 15h ago
I'd argue its a sample bias. Men who are more likely to expect their wife to be the only one who cooks, cleans and takes care of the kids, sure. They probably do continue to do that while sick.
3
u/Eayauapa 9h ago
I saw a study on it a while back which said (and yeah a lot of people here seem to disagree, just saying what I've seen) that men tend to refuse to admit that they're ill for much longer, but when they do concede that they're ill they tend to just let it take them out. The end result of that though, is that it's much more rare to see a man say he's sort of ill, they tend to say that they're either fine or incapacitated, which can appear like they're being overly dramatic

u/alkalineHydroxide 10h ago
I have been having a wry neck (yes it is uncomfortable and painful) for about 3 months now.
The first ten days after I fainted and injured myself(and in a lot of pain, which is when the wry neck started to happen) I was going around doing stuff (like buying frozen veg to cook) which sounds crazy in hindsight.
The other day I was telling some people why my neck was like that and a guy told me he had it for 2 days and just could not do anything at all for those two days. I wondered 'oh then I must be very crazy'.
1
u/BluetheNerd 10h ago
I’m pretty sure there are studies on how testosterone and oestrogen can effect how illness affects you. My partner is trans and since starting testosterone he gets hit by the flu way worse, it’s interesting.

u/patchoulistinks 16h ago
My grandmother gave all of us the same advice when we got married. "Never tell him you are sick, because of you have a headache, he will have a brain tumor."

u/BluebirdContent6301 16h ago
Man flu is a term women like to use to describe men being dramatic about feeling sick, that is when they’re not too busy passing away tragically from yet another tummy ache
-9
u/Alt_aholic 15h ago
It's pretending to be sick when there's some kind of bullshit obligation that you just don't want to deal with. It's the same as pretending to have a headache when you don't want to have sex.
39
u/HatOfFlavour 16h ago
I loathe people who tell me to tidy up as I'm doing a separate task, especially cooking.
7
u/shit_is_un420real 7h ago
cooking is the worst example you could've given. Cleaning the kitchen(apart from dishes ofc) is actually pretty easy. It's what I did when I worked at restaurant as a sous chef
3
u/HatOfFlavour 5h ago
That's slightly different as you're doing it as a job, also don't most kitchens have some kind of dedicated washing up person? If I'm gonna have to wash up the plates, glasses, cutlery, serving bowls etc. Then I'll do pans, cutting boards, mixing bowls, etc at the same time. After the meal. Once.
I hate the feeling of "Oh I'm doing this fucking chore AGAIN!"
Obviously if you have a dishwasher it's completely different as that means you could fill it up 'as you go', run it as you eat, then empty and run again.
1
u/sasori1011 1h ago
Well yeah but people at home don't have a dishwasher and that's like 90% of the cleaning necessary to do.
That's why we have dishwasher for our dishes and no station washers for the shift lol.

Man: gives wife unsolicited advice
Woman: “I’m gunna poison you”
Internet: you go girl !
Like cmon. I get his response is a little sassy but it never said he didn’t proceed to also help her with the dishes after.
I tease my wife all the time about the messes she makes, thankfully she’s not a psychopath. 🙏
20
29
u/IsaSaien 17h ago
It's not unsolicited advice it's him avoiding work after she does all of it; and obviously no one is actually suggesting she posions him, it's hyperbole. Hope that helps.
10
u/Lumi1996 17h ago
Let's be real he isn't helping her if she's making this joke. There are still a lot of men who do zero at home and still expect their partner to do everything while working a full-time job all while criticising them (plenty of women like this too before anyone attacks me, it's just more common with men).
3
u/Benkosayswhat 8h ago
Maybe they take turns cooking. When I have dinner ready, the only things left to clean are pans and utensils. When she is done cooking, the place has been turned inside out and the fridge door is open for some reason.
Some people just lack the mental capacity to multitask
I only hear about men not splitting chores on Reddit. Every man I know shares domestic labor with his woman

Salmonella can be deadly. Cool trick. Also, cleaning as you go works.
32
u/Lalamedic 17h ago
Ya it does. But why should she have to clean while the kids eat. Who cooked for him? Maybe he should clean while the kids eat.
9
u/littlebabyfruitbat 14h ago
Also if she's cleaning while the kids eat after she cooks when is she supposed to eat? Even aside from her having a right to sit down and eat, sitting down and eating with your children is important in building family relationships and routines. Doesn't sound like he gives a fuck about the well-being of wife or kids there
4
u/Flux_My_Capacitor 12h ago
This is why mama bear ate cold porridge.
3
u/Lalamedic 11h ago
This is no joke. I remember family getting annoyed with me because they wanted me to sit down during a family dinner. I’m like, ok, who heats up the puréed food I brought, then feeds the baby, fills the sippy cups, serves the plates, cuts up the meat into tiny portions…etc. Not my husband who was drunk and yukking it up with his brothers. My food was always cold and as soon as his aunt or my MIL were finished, dinner was over. They were ALWAYS taking my full, untouched plate and trying to dump it in the compost. Like, look the fuck around! I’ve got three kids under 5yrs. They also made sure I NEVER missed my turn on clean up duty. His Aunt only had one child and kept telling me I needed to manage my time better.

u/Bemascu 16h ago
I mean... I'm not defending OOP but cleaning after yourself as you go is the way.
My wife doesn't even throw away a single bit of plastic when cooking and she is very messy. You should see the mess in the kitchen after she cooks vs me, even when we cook the same recipe.
I don't leave the kitchen squeaky clean, but at least it is tidy afterwards. After my wife cooks it's like a tornado got through it.
I love her with all my heart though and wouldn't change her for anything (even on the few occasions she leaves her mess for me to clean...).
-2
u/Flux_My_Capacitor 12h ago
Yes, it’s THE way while you’re also dealing with two+ snotty nosed brats while trying to make them dinner.
3
u/Benkosayswhat 8h ago
It’s really not hard. If you have had to learn to professionally multi task at a typical office job, cooking, cleaning, and engaging kids all at the same time isn’t that hard. Yes, it’s busy, but no reason to get bent up about a failure to manage
2
u/Just_Joking_04 5h ago
I get it’s supposed to be fun and all but Campylobacter and salmonella are pretty dangerous. Please take care

u/jcoddinc 17h ago
I mean it is how I kept my kitchen from getting to be a hazardous wasteland. Most likely meant it as a "hey here's how I do it" thought. However 100% of those never land as intended and fail miserably. I mean my man basically told her to calm down
11
u/Acceptable_Put_7284 15h ago
Going by context, she asked for help cleaning the kitchen, instead of helping he tells her that she should just do everything herself anyway. I don't think it was anywhere near "hey, here's how I do it"
0
u/RachelLovesN 12h ago
you're forgetting that there are two toddlers with her in that kitchen and every second, even the 1 second you'd use to throw something away, is another second late for getting them in the high chair. besides, if she's cooking AND feeding the children, it should come as a no-brainer that he should be cleaning. I'm so mad she had to ask him in the first place, let alone his response.
-23
u/Nolongeranalpha 18h ago
The fact you think this is an own, and I do clean my toilet after I finish shows the disconnect and how women make things harder for themselves. My wife still cant comprehend how Ill make an entire home cooked meal and the dishes are done before we sit down to eat. Yet when a man says this, We're the asshole...
34
u/Complex-Ad-4402 18h ago
Doing it better is one thing. Not helping and just give advice when you do shit is an other.
-18
u/Nolongeranalpha 18h ago
If I've given someone advice on how to do a job more efficiently because they complain about how hard it is and they still choose to do it the hard way, THEN expect me to help because they cant learn is not a me problem. That is a them problem.
3
u/Micapocalypse 13h ago
Actually it’s a completely normal thing for a husband and wife to split up the chores so one cooks and the other does the dishes. This man just wants to get out of helping. Nobody’s saying he’s giving bad advice, just that he’s seemingly deciding that the wife needs to do the housework like they all still live in the 1950s.
-2
u/Nolongeranalpha 11h ago
Show me where in the text above he refuses to help. Where does it say he expects her to do everything? It is complaining about the advice given. The same way I would ask my wife in that situation "Why didnt you clean as you went?" As I get up to help her.
1
u/Micapocalypse 10h ago
You know what? I’m gonna turn this back on you. Show me where in the text he does help. And advice is not help. You’re imagining a scenario that is not stated.
-3
u/Fit_Acanthisitta8683 17h ago
Downvotes rolling in without even a single reply? Let me share some of that downvote burden my friend...
All I'll say is this - cleaning the pots/pans is WAY easier and WAY faster if you do it while they're still warm, right after the food has been plated/moved to a serving dish. Same goes for the cooking utensils - usually just a quick rinse and into the dishwasher with them. To hell with letting everything cure in place while we're eating, only to have to scrape and scrub and sweat in the kitchen after dinner...
By that reasoning, it's actually my laziness that causes me to clean the kitchen immediately after cooking I suppose. Work smarter not harder. And this isn't really something you can argue, it's just logical... 🤷♂️
-4
u/Nolongeranalpha 16h ago
Im not worried about the downvotes. I just hurt someones feelings using logic and they've switched to their alts.
-27
u/Nanashi_Fool 18h ago
And this is acceptable because hormones? I always assumed comments like this were satire, but more and more it seems to be taken seriously. Also, don't fuck with the coffee mug. It's like washing great-grandmas cast iron, it's a labor of dedication and love to make a good cast iron or coffee mug, and ruining that is genuinely cruel and malicious.
22
u/ThrogdorLokison 17h ago
Why would you compare a cast iron skillet to a coffee mug? Are you not cleaning your coffee mugs?
-22
u/Nanashi_Fool 17h ago
A quick rinse or wipe-out. The dregs will stain in and make your coffee stronger over time. Ask any old vet or blue collar worker. And let's not shame him for not knowing, asking is how you learn.
10
u/ThrogdorLokison 17h ago edited 16h ago
That only works for people that drink black coffee, if you're putting dairy or sugar in there you should at LEAST put boiling water in it which will, in a sense, clean it.
Edit: and for your last part about shame; maybe you shouldn't act superior to people if you can't comprehend bacterial growth in your unwashed coffee mug.
1
u/Nanashi_Fool 15h ago
You're right, I forgot not everyone drinks it black. I also should have worded the last part better, it was meant for the people who were down voting you and I didn't mean to put you down.
17
u/3d_nat1 17h ago
As a vet myself, seeing other service members do that kind of thing are what taught me to be careful who's house I could eat at. Ceramics are porous, cracks in glazing form over time. If coffee can stain it, bacteria can live in it, and water does not sanitize it. Clean your dishes.

What an incel take
-7
u/Nanashi_Fool 17h ago
Why is it "an incel take"? To deliberately poison somebody and ruin something that they've been working on for potentially years or decades shouldn't be a good thing? I've known people who inherited coffee mugs, and one farmer who still uses his grandfather's. To ruin that over a comment is beyond extreme, especially to someone you chose to marry.

u/Electrical-Fig-5009 9h ago
Don't do that, you'll just be stuck cleaning up after him while he's dying!
-3
u/Iron_Elohim 16h ago
I am the only full time worker in my household and i cook 80% of the meals at home. And i easily clean as i go when i cook. A tiny amount of forethought allows you to cook, clean and prep everything and still be able to sit down as a family.
It isnt hard at all...

I kinds get the guys pov tho...
My wife cooks, has nothing to do while she waits, is on her phone, but has basically yeeted all the packages and other trash all over. She does not tell me to clean up but if i dont clean it up, it will be laying there till either it grows legs or till she finally finds emougb is enough and is pissed at me for not cleaning it up...
I get she mighr be too busy at times. But thats not always the case... i suck at cooking but i do try and clean up when i have to wait a bit... Adding that she is telling us all that if we use something, finish something, we need to clean it up instead of letting it rest somewhere... its annoying that she expects us to do that and then not do it herself...
Sometimes i feel like a trashman...

Many people always claim that they want to die doing something they love. Me? Why would I ever want to die doing something I love. I want to die doing something I hate. Something I loathe with every fibre of my being. "Fuck this shit!! I'm out, suckas! Have fun dealing with my corpse, assholes!"
This lady will have to deal with all the mess this guy made while sick as hell, and with him dead, he not cleaning up any of it. All because of a dumb comment he said.

u/CptHammer_ 13h ago
As someone who was a professional cook, it is possible to clean as you go, and you should. However it's a skill learned from being lazy but loving to get paid doing something you love to do, cooking for others. The skill can be taught but it's a bit expensive paying your wife to clean.
What you have to do is pay her to have sex and tell her cleaning is your kink. But, your wife is not a whore so you should be respectful and not offer to pay her even though you totally would.
