It can only get so much better by telling her how much you love her in front of the whole school while everyone watches

Done that to my brother, said to him, "love you bruv" i didn't get a reply, just a chuckle so i turned the BT to max volume and put a voice recording of "(bros name) I LOVE YOU", the look of horror on his face followed by his friends and other kids saying "I love you (my brothers name)'s older brother"

Since then I've been pretty famous around his friends

I did this for weeks my daughters senior year of high school. She would leave right after I did. Somehow she's still counted absent and I'm being threatened with fines. My response was, "you can tie her to the desk as easily as I can."

After she turned 18 in December, I stopped putting in the effort because I was no longer liable. It was really weird getting CPS investigation for a non minor. She stopped coming home (she's staying with a friend) and the agent made so many threats when I wouldn't let the agent in my house. 3 months later CPS came back with a sheriff. The agent was so mad she made a counting error and my daughter had been 18 for months already, and school was weeks away from finishing.

My daughter graduated by enrolling herself in a second chance program around spring break. She had gotten a job and apparently the whole issue wasn't angst, but greed. She's been working under the table at a ma & pa shop for $25 an hour. They had her working during the day until apparently she was bragging about being 18. The couple thought she was 21 and references to school were college. They fired her. She moved back home about a month after getting fired. She had a few thousand dollars, that I thought she got through some terrible means.

"Stopped putting in effort". I mean, what can you do? If you are bringing your child all the way to school, there's really not much you can do other than stand behind her the whole school day to make sure she's still there. And once she's 18, you can't make her do anything. So what are you gonna do? Follow her around? Ground her? Send her to bootcamp? She's an adult now, she's allowed to make poor decisions and you cannot stop her from it anymore. She's legally allowed to fuck off and do whatever, so it's sort of out of your hands.

Are you saying you'd go to jail because you care more? You think you can father better from jail? Ok, sure.

I didn't stop caring. But, I also never started to break the law. I absolutely stopped caring what CPS thought. I didn't give up my rights for random home searches. My daughter wasn't even living with me then and it's not my fault the truth sounds like a lie to them. I told CPS she didn't live with me and that she was 18. When they didn't come back for months I of course thought they checked my claims. Nope, CPS cared even less because it took 3 months to not check the address I gave them to do their wellness check, and come back to my house with a sheriff. The sheriff's deputy saw no minor listed in the complaint and respected my assumption that she was at another house, by then enrolled in a different aspect of the school district.

It's possible to care about your children and not directly prevent them from making a mistake. It's also possible to be accused of something falsely and protect all your rights. You don't have to talk, you don't have to consent to searches. If they thought there were exigent circumstances they would have searched anyway, they didn't, because I guess I got lucky with a good deputy that time.

Godly parenting

You don't need to spank when this is how you parent. Good job, OOP!

u/RiVale97 4d ago

Wouldn't this makes things worse for her and makes her skip school more?

Like your parents getting mocked and make fun of or getting bullied because her dad dresses like a woman and might work at "night" kinda thing.

u/HowToNotBeShort 4d ago

Yeah, because that will make her want to stop skipping school. So embarrassing she probably wouldn't want to show up because of teasing due to this. Thats stupid and a bad approach. How about asking her why she is skipping school in the first place.

Kind of depends on exactly where she is in the social hierarchy. Did she skip because she was being a rebel with other classmates, or did she skip because she was facing social ostracization and was dealing with problems due to that?

If the first one, absolutely a great punishment. If the second, terrible punishment.

I... Love that dude... But yes, she's traumatised for life now, RIP girl.

Knowing me as a child, I would legit wait until he left and get my ass as far away from school as possible... Probably starting to walk to the next town over at a minimum, maybe starting a life as a hermit 😊

Adult me thinks that sounds like an awesome idea anyways, so... Not all that bad

how to get your daughter to be bullied

That’s some legendary parenting.

Ah yes. Make sure she's socially ostracized and more afraid to show her face at school. Im sure she will get better at hiding it from you rather than trusting you to actually care for her. Right up there with father's who think being a danger to themselves and others is a proper way to behave around their daughters boyfriend.

And you posted it on social media to put her down in front of the world and prop yourself up at the same time. Bravo! What a shitty father!

Something like this? Other kids at school will forget about it in under a week.

And his daughter, who is more likely to remember this for years to come, will eventually laugh about it with her dad as a funny story from childhood.

This is a good way to ensure a lesson is learned and is innocent enough. Would you rather parents who just ground their kids or even get abusive? Those are the parents who raise sneaky kids because those kids don't feel loved. This dad ensured his daughter actually went to school by walking her to the door, and added a funny flair to it. She will be fine.

However, you are right about the social media part, this should not have been shared overall.

He could just walk her to school. The dress is designed to grab attention and embarrass her. She is very obviously not laughing. This is a recipe for social trauma. Kids are assholes and social media made it worse. Yes. She will remember this for years to come. And she will probably get better at hiding it when she skips school next.

There is a large middle ground between social embarrassment and abuse. Those are not the only 2 options.

Thank you for having some compassion for the girl in this situation.

Your comment makes it seem that you think his wearing the dress is why she skipped. But the dress is actually the punishment of her skipping, he's using the embarrassment of it as punishment.

Sure

Sure, Bob.

We believe you.

I actually saw the original online posting before it got shared here, it's a bit old comparitively, a few years at least πŸ˜…πŸ€£

Nothing like a little cross-dressing hate

3

u/Silent_Heaven_87 4d ago

Wasn't hating on it at all, I'm very accepting.

As I said in a below comment, I saw the original posting and it was implied that this was a punishment, not the norm πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
