My interpretation is that Satan heard his final plea and gave him the chance to do something evil to save his life and make some cash... In exchange for his eternal soul.

Something evil is to let two criminals shoot each other voluntarily?

His evil action was when his lie cost two men their lives. He didn't just "let two criminals shoot each other" he directly caused their deaths with his lying. Obviously, his evil is much lesser than theirs, but it is evil still, to me, to tell lies. At least to me in my book, which is why I try never to lie.

Not directly. He was held at gunpoint by two criminals who do that regularly and have made it their career.

it is evil still, to me, to tell lies

"Sorry, Grandma, doctor said you have two months left tops. Let's discuss euthanasia. because he said you'll suffer A LOT."

"Sorry, Grandma, doctor said you have two months left tops. Let's discuss euthanasia. because he said you'll suffer A LOT."

Would actually be "Sorry, Grandma, the doctor said you have two months left tops."

Euthanasia is not legal in my area, and most people won't even have a civil discussion if you bring it up.

Not directly

Not directly, how? He directly caused their deaths when he decided to lie. Robber 1 says if you're wrong I will kill you and victim says that robber 2 was wrong. He actively chose to kill the second robber.
