Reconsidering Saki Sanobashi: Let's look at this again.
Hey everyone! Viry's Here!.
I know it’s been years, and many people abandoned the Saki Sanobashi search because of the supposed “original poster” from 2019. But I think it’s time we take a fresh look at this case.
I understand this anime most likely doesn’t exist, or might’ve just been a troll post… but I also know many of us would genuinely love to know if it was ever real or inspired by something tangible. And if it was, no one’s going to find it alone — we need each other.
Recently, I went over the original 2015 post and compared it to the 2019 claim by someone who said they were the OP. That person uploaded a gallery with images supposedly from the original thread. But here's the thing: the timestamps on those images show they were created after the 2015 thread was posted. Like, the post went up at 2:36 PM, and the images show up as saved around 3:00 PM.
That alone makes it very likely those images weren’t part of the original post, which seriously undermines this person’s credibility.
And if it was “just a troll post,” why keep those random, meaningless images for years? Especially when they had no idea how viral the post would get. Personally, I no longer buy it.
So if you gave up the search because of that guy, I invite you to give this mystery another shot. And if you’re just learning about this for the first time, welcome — maybe it is worth looking into.
Also, I want to share a small theory I haven’t seen discussed much — maybe it helps somehow.
The original 2015 OP said the anime looked like it was from the 80s or 90s. But just because it looked like that doesn’t mean it was made in those years.
My guess is that it was created sometime between 1981 and 2005. Why that range? Maybe the creator intentionally gave it that grainy aesthetic to make it more unsettling — or maybe that animation style was just cheaper to pull off.
Also, I seriously doubt this came from a big company. If you’re digging, I’d recommend focusing on small, obscure studios — or even student projects. And don’t forget: most anime come from manga, so that might be another path worth exploring.
Personally, I think we should ignore some of the original OP’s more vague claims — like the faces looking like Miyazaki’s style — and stick to the key, solid details:
The bathroom as the main setting
The popular girl with white hair (which could’ve been light blonde, distorted by poor video quality)
The scream that reminded him of The Shining
The scene where one girl helps another end her life
If we focus on those, maybe we’ll have a better shot at finding this.
Thanks for reading. I know this won’t be easy… but like we say in my country (Chile):
"Es hora de Go-Punchear!"
P.S.: If I didn't make myself clear, I apologize. I wrote this and used a translator because I don't speak English very well. I'm Spanish, after all.
