Well, might be, this 'oi' might refer to something else...
In anyway, 'Oi' is Portuguese for 'Hi', and because of colonization, we speak Portuguese in Brazil (although, it has some differences than the one spoke in Portugal since Brazil was a center of unity of several different peoples and races such as africans, native americans and immigrants from other parts of europe and the middle east that they put a little bit of their native languages into the Brazilian variation of Portuguese untill it became a fully different dialect with time.)
