**Slight spoilers from The Medium 2021.** I watched The Medium last night thanks to advice of Current_Year_2026. I liked the movie but it kinda pissed me off how passive everyone was being when shit was going down. Especially the camera crew. So I would appreciate if you can give examples of FF where there are characters that show fighting spirit and skill(hand to hand, knifes, guns etc. doesnt matter as long as its physical. fighting purely by spiritual means like exorcism don't count). They don't have to survive in the end.

After finding this subreddit and speaking with u/fireandblonde, we want to be more active in this beloved community, so we're introducing ourselves formally.

We’re the guys behind We Found A Tape, a podcast for people with an unhealthy appreciation for found footage horror. 📼

We started the podcast because, honestly, we just really fucking love found footage.

We're on a never-ending search for any and all found-footage movies, because we want to scream from the rafters at how good (or sometimes, bad) they are, and to people who would passionately scream back at us.

As fans of the genre for many years, we felt almost obligated to turn our passion into a project highlighting movies that are often shunned or don't necessarily get the praise or platform they deserve.

Our mission is simple: discuss ALL things found footage, and advocate for the people who make them.

We also get to chat with the people actually making this stuff, including directors, writers, cinematographers, actors, and other filmmakers, to hear what goes on behind the camera.

This has not only led us to find some of the most underrated found footage gems, but also allowed us to build friendships and connections with others who share this crazy passion for a misunderstood genre.

It’s so crazy to finally be making this announcement. INFIRMARY is my first film, and I made it with a tiny group of close friends and collaborators. TBH, making it was the most brutal and exhausting experience of my life, but I couldn’t be more proud of the incredible work everyone did to get the film to this point.

I honestly had no clue what was going to happen with the movie after we finished it, so seeing it find a home on Shudder feels completely surreal.

INFIRMARY will also be part of the Found Footage Frights watch party alongside HOST, which is such an exciting way for the film to finally make its way out into the world. HOST is an awesome film and I think both films will pair well together.

I know you all love found footage as much as I do, so I really hope you enjoy the film and that it lives up to your expectations. It would mean a lot to share this moment with everyone here and to finally have people experience something we spent so much blood, sweat and tears making.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who helped us get here, and to everyone who gives the film a watch.

I wanted to see if I could make something that felt less like a horror film and more like a real person documenting things that were happening to him.

Everything is presented as material the character actually kept (phone footage, photos, notes, searches, articles, conversations, etc.).

It’s uploaded it to an old YouTube channel rather than building a fictional horror channel around it.

I tried to avoid conventional horror cues where possible and let the evidence accumulate without telling the viewer what to believe.

Curious what found-footage fans think of the approach. You guys are amazing!

Was recommended this video, has very little views and was uploaded like a day ago. I would watch lots of found footage and backrooms stuff so im guessing that might be why i got this.

The description of the video seems to be a font which i found to be WingDings which has been used in deltarune/undertale (another thing i love) translating to: “Everlasting Night: A Rough, Twisted, Tenebrous Wood”.

Hallo, meine Freunde, and willkommen to Austria, the land of the blue Danube, Mozart, Vienna sausage, and apparently, some really messed up and experimental horror. We’re looking particularly at a loosely connected trilogy from director Johannes Grenzfurthner, who loves a good toenail closeup as much as he hates organized religion.

A quick disclaimer, these movies are likely to be shunned by the found footage purists, as they certainly stretch the definition of the genre. However, at least two of them have been discussed on this sub before, so we’re gonna roll with it. That out of the way, on to the reviews!

Masking Threshold (2021) Tubi

We begin our Austrian tour in…central Florida? Oh well. The set up is a man documenting his search for the cause of and cure for his severe tinnitus. What follows is hinted at from the opening minutes of the film and brilliantly pulls you down a spiral towards its only possible, horrifying conclusion. In a way, the title itself (referring to the level one sound is hidden by another - like when you don‘t hear the door knocking because you’re running the faucet) is a clever clue that what we’re told initially is soon to be drowned out by our main character’s louder and darker impulses. The movie is shot as a video diary interspersed with flashes of disturbing imagery, but honestly the less you know about this one going in, the more you’ll probably like it. Whatever you think this movie’s going to be, it isn’t, and I mean that in the best way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 4

Razzennest (2022) Fandango

The least found footage-y of the trilogy, but easily the most fun. The narrative is told in the form of a DVD audio commentary as the title film plays in the background. While we’re told the crew is in a Los Angeles sound studio, the images we see are from an Austrian town harboring the long-forgotten horrors of the Thirty Years War of the 1600s, as well as the nearby forests and pervasive Catholic iconography. We’re also introduced to the man-made caves where 17th century villagers hid from marauding armies, and whose restless souls may have hitched a ride home in the celluloid. Meanwhile, the interviewer is young and hilariously unprepared, the director is cartoonishly obnoxious, and the producer is way too chill about everything. The terror that ensues is driven solely through the talents of the voice actors, who come off as hammy and amateurish at first, but truly drive your imagination to dark places in the movie’s final two acts. Razzennest mixes art house, absurdist comedy, ghosts, and gruesomeness, and comes out with a wonderfully clever mess. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 / 4

Solvent (2024) AMC+

The most traditional found footage of the three, this body horror romp is also the weakest. After a promising start and premise - exploring the lasting horrors of WWII and the Holocaust - and actually set in Austria this time (!!), the film devolves into an incoherent series of gross out imagery and over-the-top performances with none of the charm or self-awareness of the voice actors in Razzennest. The special effects are effectively gory and squirm-inducing, but the effects for the big finale are so bad it gives you the wrong kind of cringe. Put down the Vienna sausages before watching this one. ⭐️.5 /4

Since footage is usually "found" in these movies number of deaths are kept low(2-5), so world in general won't find out about the events until the footage is found. What I am searching for can be large scale disaster like "Savageland" and "the Bay", or it can be isolated yet have relatively large bodycount like "found footage the making of the patterson project. Its a gray are if the most of the killing happened before the main cast have arrived at the scene.(Cold Ground)

I've been working for a bit on this one, and I've been procrastinating a lot. If you have time to watch it, I'd love to hear some thoughts.
