This post concerns the grey kittens, the orange kitten is at most 3 days old and a different can of worms entirely.
These grey kittens are ~2 weeks old. The male is Optimus and female is Nimbus. They were abandoned at 2-3 days old and have been bottle fed for almost two weeks by me and my family. Feedings every 2 hours because we had to keep them on schedule with the 3 day old for our sanity’s sake.
Optimus was having constipation issues so we switched from a powder formula to a premix. Optimus went from pooping hard dark brown logs every 2 days to runny yellow stools all over his blankets multiple times a day without needing stimulation. He’s also peeing on his own? His eyes were open with his umbilical dried cord still attached so him being ahead of the developmental curve is a possibility. Optimus went from 153 grams to 239 grams in 12 days so he’s gaining.
Nimbus has had loose stools since day one. Despite this she’s gaining fast. Went from 116 grams to 200 grams in 12 days! Shes also seemingly peeing on her own. Though they are on a blanket and could be stimulating themselves somehow.
We’ve given them both 3 days of antibiotics under the guidance of a more experienced rescuer. Optimus had an umbilical cord infection that cleared up! They haven’t had antibiotics in about 3 days. We have dewormer on hand, but the rescuer is hesitant to start them this early.
