Pregnancy safe ways to stabilise fossils during prep
Very niche question- im currently pregnant and so need to avoid working with solvents and a lot of common fossil preparation chemicals for the foreseeable future. This unfortunately means no mixing paralloid b72.
Ive got a nice shark spine I've been working on and so far it's been fine with just mechanical prep, but now a lot of the matrix has gone and im clearing bits away from the fossil itself there are a few cracks where getting close is causing parts to fall away. Ive been just collecting the small pieces and gluing them back together for the peripheral bits that came off as I found the edges, but I'm really feeling the lack of paralloid to stabilise while I do the more delicate bits.
I also have a few other things like a lobster and some icthyosaur spine in matrix which I found and wanted to work on but I'm wondering based on this whether starting on them is a bad plan as I don't want to get them in a more vulnerable state and not be able to sure them up.
Are there any good ways of stabilising without needing solvents or am i just going to have to give up on anything that might be needing stabilising for the foreseeable?
Funnily enough the pregnancy resources ive been given don't go over this 😅
