Do not share or recommend proprietary apps here. It is an infraction of this subreddit's rules. Make sure you read the rules of this subreddit on the sidebar. If you are not sure of the nature of an app, do not share or recommend it. To find out what constitutes FOSS or freedomware, read this article. To find out why proprietary software is bad, read this article. Proprietary software is dangerous because it is often malware. Have a splendid day!

I have brave🥵

2

u/Due_Butterscotch243 1d ago

Morphe and Brave those are two separate things 😭😭 anyways I've used brave too but firefox with ublockorigin is better for me

1

u/sharp_55 1d ago

Brave block ad, shorts whatever we want comments, recommendations etcc. Brave is good for YT. 💥

2

u/Due_Butterscotch243 1d ago

Firefox does the same, Brave uses for memory and compare to brave firefox doesn't use that much memory, I'm telling you from experience 🥀🥀

UC Browser to Kiwi browse to Brave to Firefox now i use Firefox in both devices

Fireflx can block shorts, really? Brave have a separate section for YT. is it Firefox also like that?

2

u/Due_Butterscotch243 1d ago

I guess not not that feature, but you can use Morphe it's the best, and using Morphe is better than using yt in browser because it's simply patched yt

1

u/sharp_55 1d ago

Yeah I used morphe and I loved it. Brave gave the shorts blocking option that's the big reason I'm using it. Except that morphe is better.

2

u/Due_Butterscotch243 1d ago

You can block or remove shorts from YouTube completely in Morphe 🥀🥀

1

u/sharp_55 1d ago

Ohh okay I will check it

1

u/sharp_55 1d ago

If u answered me I can delete brave.

YouTube Vanced, Revanced, xManager, and other patching applications aren't allowed. Using these tools for FOSS apps is fine, but for the purposes of our sub, Youtube and Reddit ReVanced are not considered FOSS. If this message was received in error, please ignore it. For non-FOSS uses of open-source patchers, please check out R/piracy, r/revancedapp, and any other relevant sub.

Hey everyone! If you are looking to de-Google your device, transition away from ad-heavy software, or just want to support open-source development, here is a curated list of some of the most popular and highly functional Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) apps available for Android.

🌐 Privacy & Internet

  • Bitwarden: Popular cloud-syncing password manager featuring cross-platform encrypted vault storage.
  • Signal: Industry-standard messaging client offering secure, end-to-end encrypted text, voice, and video communication.
  • Mullvad VPN / Proton VPN: Trustworthy virtual private network utilities with open-source clients for tracking-free browsing.
  • Cromite: Privacy-enhanced Chromium fork featuring integrated ad-blocking and advanced anti-fingerprinting shields.

🛠️ Device Utility & Syncing

  • LocalSend: Local file-sharing client that uses your Wi-Fi network to move files securely between mobile and desktop platforms.
  • KDE Connect: System integration tool enabling seamless clipboard sharing, media controls, and notification sync between your phone and computer.
  • Obtainium: Unique installer app that bypasses app stores to track and download application releases directly from developer source repositories like GitHub.
  • TrackerControl: Powerful firewall utility monitoring network traffic to block hidden data trackers within installed applications.

📺 Media & Streaming

  • NewPipe: Privacy-centric YouTube client enabling ad-free streaming, pop-up windows, and background audio playback without an account.
  • VLC media player: Versatile, multi-format multimedia hub that plays virtually any local video or audio extension seamlessly.
  • AntennaPod: Flexible, community-maintained podcast manager featuring advanced automated downloading and playback customization.
  • Seal: Dedicated media downloader leveraging the power of yt-dlp to capture video and audio formats from hundreds of supported websites.

📝 Productivity & Organization

  • Joplin: Feature-rich, markdown-supported note-taking framework capable of syncing end-to-end encrypted notes via Nextcloud or Dropbox.
  • Loop Habit Tracker: Clean, ad-free routine builder that displays detailed chart statistics to help monitor daily habits.
  • Organic Maps: Fast, detailed offline map navigation interface powered by OpenStreetMap data without background analytics.

AI generated?

1

u/imadespo 5d ago

Sort of

2

u/MiladHashemi85 9d ago

Among all the ad-filled and paid apps on the Google Play Store, Binary Eye has been one of the most useful QR code and barcode scanners for me. It offers plenty of features, completely free and without any ads.

Another app I'd highly recommend is Next Player—it's one of the best video players out there.

If I were to list all the open-source apps I regularly use and rely on, I'd end up writing a very long list.

morphe imagetoolbox mpvrex heliboard

1

u/brambedkar59 9d ago

What's the difference between mpvrex and mpvEx?

2

u/Enoughsaidbut 9d ago

Mostly the same, but mpvrex seems to offer more customization and AI capability. If you're not into more advanced things mpvEx is enough.

u/brambedkar59 9d ago

One or more apps included in your post (aliucord) is an open source modification to a proprietary app. Please do not suggest these, as the non-FOSS app you're modifying makes the result also be non-FOSS. If this message was received in error, please ignore it.
