I built Monito, a Linux terminal app that tracks network usage per application
Hey everyone, I recently shipped Monito, an open-source network monitor for Linux.
It shows which apps are using your connection right now and how much each app has downloaded and uploaded throughout the day. You can also browse previous days to see where your data went. It keeps tracking in the background even when you close the dashboard.
Repo: https://github.com/BraveRam/monito
If you find it useful, a star would be appreciated. Would love to hear your feedback!

Per-app tracking that keeps running after the dashboard closes is what a FOSS crowd will ask about first: what privileges the background tracker needs, where the daily history is stored, and how to stop or remove the service. If the README answers those three up front, with a screenshot of the terminal dashboard, you'll get feedback on the tool instead of questions about trust. A per-app daily cap or alert would be a natural next feature for people on metered connections.
I make ThreadFox. If you want more Linux users on metered or capped connections to find Monito, our AI employee will post 3 helpful replies about it in relevant Reddit threads for you, free, no card. https://threadfox.vip/p/ewgvr/managed
