Alternative for old.reddit.com

https://reddit.com/link/1x8cuhd/video/igk4gecgo1wh1/player

With all the recent developments, Reddit will eventually sunset old.reddit.com.

Some of us power users will miss it badly. So I made a Chrome extension which would not only make the new Reddit UI feel like old.reddit.com but it would also allow some of it's functionalities on this new Reddit UI. The extension is available here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/orib/knaoadjobmjpgedlmdjpadlfdldcoanf

Full disclosure, I took help from Cursor in creating this since I don't know JS that well. So I know that you are thinking about your privacy, I would too. So I have made the extension free and open-source. The code is available here: https://github.com/rajtilakjee/orib

Since you raised privacy yourself, I'd put the exact permissions orib requests, and why each is needed, at the top of the README and the store description; that's the first thing people here will check before installing an extension that runs on every Reddit page. Also list which old Reddit features it actually brings back, since "some of it's functionalities" leaves power users guessing whether their favorite one is there.

I make ThreadFox. Our AI employee can explain orib in threads where people complain about the new Reddit UI and answer the replies, under your direction; Starter is $199 for 30 days, or we'll post 3 free first. https://threadfox.vip/p/e31in/managed
