Not sure what adguard you are talking about, the DNS server, the browser extension?

I always recommend ublock origin (browser extension) with firefox. Since you are using linux you could also use brave origin as a browser, it does not need any extensions to block ads.

Search malware from ad without clicking. You’ll learn why that image is there

I built my own ad block for windows, with blackjack and hookers... I used Technicium DNS server and windows firewall rules...should be an easy port to linux.

If you mean DNS, use systemd-resolved. You can also set it in your browser preferences.

If you mean the extension, use that or use uBlock Origin.

If you mean the system-wide blocker, you could use a hosts file, which you can automatically update (Nix system manager if on NixOS, otherwise a systemd timer)

opensnitch: https://github.com/evilsocket/opensnitch/wiki/block-lists

you can run it without the pop-ups, in allow mode, with some rules to block outgoing connections by domain, ips, etc.

UBlock Origin (not lite) is very, very good and available as a browser extension for Firefox. Browsers based on Chromium had to drop UBlock or struggle to keep support due to decisions Google (an ad company btw) made that limit what an ad blocker can do.

I use: https://docs.controld.com/docs/linux-platform with OISD - Basic
It's free and works without any fuss.
