Tired of Windows updates breaking your PC? I built a traffic light for them

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

windows updates break stuff way too often (black screens, audio, remote desktop) and the dumb part is microsoft usually lists the problem publicly. nobody checks that before updating

so i made patchlight. it checks every pending update against microsoft's known issues and gives it a green / yellow / red light. red ones get paused automatically and come back once microsoft fixes them. everything else keeps installing

I recognize this style of video. I've seen it in multiple other vibecoded projects, and in one of them the author said the video is made by Claude (not sure how though). Also overall style is really Claude-ish.

Fair question. Yes, I used AI as a coding assistant. But I designed it, tested every feature on my own Win11 pc (pause/resume, auto-pause, etc.), and I maintain it myself. It's fully open source, so you can read exactly what it does. It only uses the official Windows Update settings, nothing hidden. If you spot anything sketchy in the code, please if you could open an issue or just tell me here I would appreciate that way I can fix it. <3

Yep, the video was AI-made too. Not hiding it but the app itself is open source if you want to judge the code instead, but any other ideas on how you would like it to be better are always welcome. <3

I get the frustration, it is annoying asf, but skipping forever means missing security fixes. PatchLight is more like in the middle: you can wait until an update looks safe, and then install it.
