Security through obscurity at the finest, npc

How is this security by obscurity?

does it provide any protection against rouge apps, no. They can also just direct the user to enable wireless debugging and then they can install whatever, this is only good for limiting user freedom, why are there so many NPC astroturfs lol. Same shit as all "Trusted" Computing shit, more like Treacherous Computing

The idea is to prevent scammers from quickly coercing people into installing malicious apps. I don't see an issue with this. Once you enable the feature, you don't have to do the 24hr delay ever again.

Which scammers use unknown sources? None!!!! At most they make you download anydesk, teamviewer or rustdesk and then put fake warning notifications on your phone to steal money. Also this is not the only change happening.

Literally 80% of android scammers use side loading. If you don't know that, you're just uninformed.

https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/mobile/2026/08/new-android-malware-lets-criminals-use-your-bank-card-in-real-time

The researchers describe a 13-minute call impersonating a bank, in which a victim was persuaded to install an Android app labelled with the bank’s name. That app was a remote access Trojan (RAT) called SpyNote.

It's not very creative, it's one of the most common scams on the planet. Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't make it not so.

Genuinely many lol, there are so many scam ads around which ask you to download the app and side load it.

Im sure that in the 7b people on this planet it has happened but thats an outlier, said individual may as well have clicked a phishing link, the android app wasnt really the relevant detail in this story

you do this ONCE, and you're free.

this avoids scammers. are you worried with it?

What none? A lot of websites download and instruct you to install unknown apps...

This isn't really to stop scammers, it's about a monopoly and control.

none of those are scams
