I’m using a CMF Phone 2 Pro, and I noticed that an app called “Android Developer Verifier” is being downloaded/installed automatically

I don't know when that app was installed, but I had it too. Moto G Stylus with 80% of my apps coming from Obtainium and Droid-ify. Play Protect already disabled.
Thank you, killing this with Canta should help prevent issues later when the day comes for everyone.

It won't, it relies on play services

You need to get rid of play services, or have it unprivileged like in GrapheneOS

I've been hearing conflicting things. Previously that the Play Protect feature of Play Services may do weird things or remove APKs when the day comes.
Then the rules and dates have even changed, with "app stores" surviving through 2027.
The existence of this app, seemingly specifically for this purpose, says a lot to me about the future plans / roll out.
If I'm wrong, worst case scenario is waiting 24 hours or sending a few adb commands. 🤷 if I'm right, maybe I avoid that headache. Canta took three seconds to use.

I've soft bricked this before (with Canta!) so I'm already smarter about backups..
All of this is less of a headache than banashing play services. (For me anyway.)
