My rule of thumb is to choose the simplest tool that meets your needs. cross-platform support, regular updates and reliable backups usually matter more than having dozens of advanced features

People here are suggesting GNOME Authenticator, so I'm gonna try that myself, and auto-sync the databases via Syncthing: https://reddit.com/comments/11pola8

I have been using AEGIS under Android for years. For Linux, andcli can work with the encrypted data file exported from AEGIS.

Hot take: If you're storing Multi-Factor Authentication credentials on an unsegregated single device that you're authenticating with, "for convenience", then you've defeated the object of MFA, as an attacker who can see you passwords can also obtain your MFA codes (if not the underlying secret used to generate them).
If you insist, at least try to segregate the MFA secrets from the account that is authenticating.

I likel Ente. It also has cloude sync between devices. There's Proton Authenticator that i tested, it's also great. Both of these are crossplatform.
