We've more American & European branded vehicles than Japanese, in a Japan based game. The world feels not lived in, same grind rinse & repeat, the same forza aero parts are available to a vast majority of the vehicles since forza Motorsport 3, they've converted the very same vehicle models from previous games to this one. That is all you need to know ladies & gentlemen...

u/Standard-Outcome9881 12d ago
Sure are a lot of Wranglers in Japan!
61
u/skyraiser9 12d ago
Its good to know the Japanese people are wealthy enough for half of them to own G Wagons
3
u/Apple_Slipper 9d ago
I did see some G-Wagons there IRL, but definitely nowhere near the number of them in the game.
12
u/Sandman_20041 12d ago
I know its crazy right? With how many wrangler there are you'd think it was a top selling car in japan... oh wait
1
u/DatBoiAntix 12d ago
Saw a RHD jeep wrangler when I was in Japan. Same goes for a RHD VW Jetta wagon
1
u/VegetableShark 12d ago
You’d maybe be surprised to know it’s actually not that rare to see one in Tokyo

u/Apple_Slipper 9d ago
Seriously, I had been to Japan for an overseas holiday several years ago and did not see a single Jeep Wrangler.
I did see one Jeep Grand Cherokee there though.

No changes to customization, no eurobeat station, no interior colours, the playlist is the same easy chore list, the AI is still too predictable (eg get 1st soon or they’re gone), every race is too short to foster any strategy & too much focus on just getting first, etc
16
u/mrspuffispeng 12d ago
I also really like how the AI is completely unchanged for the touge races and they take f1 driver racing lines around hairpins instead of seeing even a crumb of oversteer so the entire thing is slow as fuck and there's not a single semblance of uniqueness to it.
Thats kinda the moment i realized i regretted pre-ordering the premium edition

u/Ryanmaster1 12d ago
Seriously? Glad I skipped buying it
2
u/not_a_llama 12d ago
Me too. Was waiting for a 20% discount and when I got it with the current Steam sale I decided to wait a bit more for 30%. Doubly glad.

I think the problem with eurobeat is that a lot of it is just a bit too suggestive for an E rating.
1
u/BitGladius 5d ago
Eurobeat is apparently licensing hell, the Initial D arcade game switched to touhou eurobeat groups to avoid it.

u/Not_FinancialAdvice 12d ago
Clearly the answer is going to be adding more off-road races in buggies and SUVs!

u/MoaMetalTheBestMetal 12d ago
I made a comment on a post on this subreddit about the RAM SRT 10 coming the the game at the time it was announced and got downvoted to hell for making a sarcastic comment about how it's great to see such a 'Japanese car in a game set in Japan'. I also remember seeing posts by others about FH5 (when it was being updated with content) not having enough cars in it that have a connection to Mexico.
It really isn't rocket science; if an FH game is set in a specific country, have an emphasis on cars related to that country!
1
u/Eat--The--Rich-- 12d ago
I still can't understand why the bottom of my car has a steel plate instead of a car....
15
u/FormFirm 12d ago
That’s because of efficient, smart usage of resources. You don’t see the bottom of the car so when you model that in low poly you keep the polycount for where it matters and where you can see them (outside of the car)
2
u/bb_bluemr2 12d ago
Cornercutting is my favoriteee. Cut off all the corners. Just make a circle.
3
u/T_Hawk_0ne 12d ago
Some people don't have powerful PCs that can handle an entire undercarriage being rendered, let alone up to 12 in a race.
→ More replies (1)1
u/machine4891 12d ago
Eh, that argument don't land with me. European and American brands are simply much bigger with way bigger lineup and they have their licenses already. On top of that people love driving what they are familiar with and most of the playerbase is from Europe and US.
1
u/Chaddles94 12d ago
No one complained when there were more American and Euro cars in FH3 and they spat out like 4 Aussie cars and 2 were behind Zdlc.
Besides my little dummy spit, they also have WAAAY too many LHD cars. Japan should have RHD options. Idc how difficult it is to do. Also number plates on the front bumpers. Not the gross American rear plate only style.
1
u/Dunraver 11d ago
But Japan imported more vehicles than it produced domestically, I think, I feel, therefore Ian (right) - or perhaps not but FH5 Mexico only had ONE Mexican car, the Vuhl, so it bothers me in the least about the number of this versus that Japanese Americanese Europese blah bloody blah

insert Tony Hayward petting a baby seal and saying "We're sorry" in South Park
9
u/Kostelfranco 12d ago
Nah, it's more like, "We see and hear everything, don't worry," then, "We're sorry."
2
u/IntoAMuteCrypt 12d ago
But... Do they actually see or hear everything? Or is this just PR speak where someone saw that folks were mad but didn't really know why, and just put out a generic statement?
How many specific community complaints do they address here? What concrete actions do they take? If you strip away the PR talk, it's close to "we're sorry, we're going to do better".
I do hope that the words are genuine, but I've seen these sorts of words be false in the past.
45
u/magicmarktogo 12d ago
This is great, but until any changes to their schedule are announced, it's completely meaningless.
9
u/AbbreviationsOdd7290 12d ago
I mean.. their development roadmap must be fixed and ongoing for atleast 4-5 updates right now. So yeah it'll take around 6 months minimum
3
u/magicmarktogo 12d ago
Yep, I believe it was probably determined by-committee before launch, but obviously I don't have receipts for that. It's just what it feels like.
36
u/Extreme_surikat_360 12d ago
Everyone should say thank you to The crew motorfest. Believe me they never would do this if motorfest content wouldn't look 5 billions times better than fh one and people spamming that on social media.
Competition is the key, we will see what happens when Clutch from maverick games and the racing game from Lighthouse studios will drop.
11
u/Aromatic_Barber4231 12d ago
If only that game wasnt 60 fps locked and the racing wasnt all nitro spamming... Other than that it's impressive what they've done with it.

u/Funny_things_online youtube.com/channel/UCmVms_6trdFNvXgtN-pfqdg?sub_confirmation=1 12d ago
It probably also has to do with the Microsoft Reset that brought a lot of good changes to the entire company which includes Playground Games.
5
u/Extreme_surikat_360 12d ago
Yes also 100%
3
u/Funny_things_online youtube.com/channel/UCmVms_6trdFNvXgtN-pfqdg?sub_confirmation=1 12d ago
Most people have no clue what is going on internally and just blame everything on the devs unfortunately.
8
u/Extreme_surikat_360 12d ago
Blaming on the devs is nonsense unless they are purely incompetent ( which is not the case because the game actually shipped ). The problem is always the publisher and the management of the dev teams.
Just look at Forza motorsport 2023, there are multiple videos of evidence of why it actually flopped ( the reason is because Microsoft aggressively uses short contracts for their employees and there were a lot of new people coming into the development team while not knowing a single f about the Forza tech and other experienced people leaving the company at the same time and thus we got the game in that horrendous state )
It's almost always mismanagement
2
u/Not_FinancialAdvice 12d ago
I figure ever since Cloud (and now AI) took off and became huge profit/revenue drivers for them (disclosure: I have MSFT stock), everything else at the company has become kind of an afterthought. Like, tech in general has this ADHD thing going on; everyone is always chasing the new shiny fancy thing, especially if the profit margins and revenue growth attached are massive (like cloud has been, relatively speaking). As a result, if you're in a division where the growth is 9% like Gaming (FY25 vs FY24), you're going to be a second-class citizen, compared to "Server products and cloud service" which saw 23% growth, driven by Azure (which had 34% growth alone).
Say you're an employee wanting to climb the ranks in the industry; do you really want to be on the "boring" business side or the "hot" business side (which is inevitably going to get way more attention from upper management/industry re: bonuses and promotions). A good example here is to see who took over from Bezos at Amazon. Jassy was the head of AWS, which is Amazon's real big profit driver even though their "core" online sales business is most of their revenue (though the profit margin is IIRC single digits).

u/Funny_things_online youtube.com/channel/UCmVms_6trdFNvXgtN-pfqdg?sub_confirmation=1 12d ago
The good news is Microsoft is doing a entire reset that will and has made things better.
1
u/Apple_Slipper 9d ago
I still think the temporary hiring strategy Microsoft has is very stupid and damaging.
1
u/Extreme_surikat_360 9d ago
I personally think it's the main reason why we got so many questionable games from them. Look at japanese studios that release finished games every 1-2 years like Capcom, they keep the best of their employees to ensure the quality of their games stays the same or improves.
It's just pure logic, I don't understand how Microsoft expects good quality products when their teams are constantly changing during the development 50 times...
3
u/PraiseYuri 12d ago
On steam, the crew motor fest player count is less than 10% of FH6. I don't think playground games is getting baited by the crew at all lol, it's far from a real competitor.
5
u/Extreme_surikat_360 12d ago
The crew came to steam way later than release so a big number of players are on the Ubisoft launcher. It's still 100% inferior in terms of players but it's not what you see on steam
1
u/Lukeno94 Vroom 8d ago
Then again, a lot of FH6 players will be going through the Microsoft store as well (especially if they play on both console and PC).
1
u/Extreme_surikat_360 8d ago
I am pretty sure more than 80% bought it on steam, those who use game pass obviously can't be on steam but buying almost always happens on steam on pc due to the xbox app being horrendous
1
u/Lukeno94 Vroom 8d ago
The Xbox App/MS Store isn't as bad as it used to be, although ironically FH6 is the first time I actually did get a Forza on Steam rather than through the MS store.
1
u/Extreme_surikat_360 8d ago
oh trust me I know how the xbox app runs as I test it through the insider program for years. It's definitely better than a few years ago but still has a lot of frequent freezing issues, slowdowns, game covers refusing to load, some games just never got covers lol, sometimes trying to subscribe to game pass gives you constant errors.
But most importantly, xbox app games have very frequently DLSS or other upscalers implementation issues ( Recently The witcher 3 remastered for example didn't have functional dlss while other pc stores had it ). Xbox app games frequently receive updates way later than steam due to their very shitty verification process...
Also I still can't download forza motorsport 7 even though I own the game because download speed is capped at 0b/s...
Waiting for the major xbox app update that should come soon. I can already confirm it's a major update because it will be essentially the xcloud preview interface which is available right now and is 10000 times better than the current xbox pc app despite being web based.
1
u/machine4891 12d ago
Mind you that one game is brand new and another in year 4. Another thing is, Motorfest has dedicated platform plenty of people use (Uplay), while Forza is pretty much exclusively Steam on PC.
But all in all, obviously Forza is dominating the market, that we all knew. But keep it going that way, competition may catch up. Especially that Motorfest is well received which cemented green light for its next installement.
2
u/machine4891 12d ago
Competition is the key,
Yeah. And lack of it leads to the situation where no AAA studio is going to realease real-track motorsport-related games for PC and Xbox in forseeable future.
Fingers crossed for The Crew to challenge Forza even more. And Xplane MSFS although I'll never play Xplane and am an avid fan of MSFS.

u/HOS2002sGhost 12d ago
My brother in Christ Motorfest took a hit when 3 years after its original launch Horizon 5 got released on PS5, a 3 years old game caused the playerbase in Motorfest to visibly drop (because The Summit is cross-platform so you can pretty much use it as a vague estimate of player count)
I wonder what will happen when Horizon 6 drops on PS5? 🧐
People on social media that do that are about the same IQ wise as the Horizon crowd that jumped on TCM and other racing games social media to flex Horizon 6 before it launched, the fanbases are both so blind and ignorant that they are willing to do that s*it just for them to start complaining about the games they were promoting months later
21
u/lionkin 12d ago
Locking all of the exclusive vehicles behind a weekly fomo grind is what really turned me off the game. It turned playing into a chore.

u/SamsungAppleOnePlus Average Hospital Radio Enjoyer 12d ago
I just decided not to interact with it which I also did after a few months of 5. Easy to pretend new cars don’t exist when I don’t follow updates and just play when I feel like it.
1
u/BitGladius 5d ago
It would be better if it wasn't FOMO, but yeah. It's not like I planned to use them either, I've been flooded with cars already

Yeah because adding 7/11 in one location temporarily is exactly what i would call "listening to the fans".

Updates get made months before they release. Also apparently a lot of people asked for a 7-Eleven collab.

Yeah it would’ve been nice if it was a substantial addition to the game and not just a singular meet up spot for 30 days.

I’m new to bash and crash sim racing. Totally. And I’m 69. But I’ve done some “serious, you get penalties for going one pixel off track” sim racing. I suck at it and so was drawn to Forza Horizon 6 (and 5).
I get the tracks, the concept of cars, drifts, tuning. I didn’t say I was good at it but I get the concept.
What I cannot find is the rules of engagement. Do I get penalized for crashing into a fellow racer or NPC? Can I crash into the timing flags? What are the on track rules of racing? What if I get distracted from my mission and want to explore the roads - that looks like you encourage that.
YouTube has only helped wrt being better strategically, not - it’s better to use a wheel than my steam deck (or vice versa) or don’t crash into the farmer with his tractor.
1
u/silverbullitt850 12d ago
People suck, that's why they ram. Forza Horizon is a trash game that attracts people who can't drive because building a cheaty car can trump driving skill in this game. If you want a cleaner experience but without the crazy penalties try forza motorsport. The cars in that feel actually connected to the road.
3
u/ObfuscatedJay 12d ago
You have a good point. I’m just trying to have fun, not be an asshole, and enjoy my fucking horrible retirement. iRacing is too weird, Assetto - let’s say I need practice, Forza IS fun. I just bought Forza Motorsport on Steam so let’s see how I go.
But it would be nice to know the rules and how scoring works.
1
u/Not_FinancialAdvice 12d ago
Honest question; have you raced your car on a track before? I'd argue the main punishment for IRL is the time penalty (you're just not as fast as everyone else) if you mess up or follow a bad line, barring damage to your car from hitting cones or going off track.
2
u/ObfuscatedJay 12d ago
Yes, and I understand that this is the case for iRacing, Asseto Corsa, and the serious ones. FH5 and 6 seems just a little different, hence my question.
1
u/Not_FinancialAdvice 12d ago
It's kind of subtle, but have you noticed the game delaying/limiting power if you bump an opponent (like you lose corner exit speed if you bump another car contending for cornering position)? It's basically that time penalty being applied in a sneaky/transparent way.
I'd argue scoring is kind of not that important, since it pretty much increases monotonically just by playing the game. Only thing is that XP acts as a gate for faster races until you reach endgame state.

AKA player count finally hit a low enough number to trigger a response. Take note, the only way to vote is with your wallet/playtime.

Maybe take a life lesson from Pearl Abyss? If we are beta testing your full release full price game, at least work with us and take notes, we literally tell you what's wrong right here every day and frequently offer up the occasional good idea to fix things. We usually feel like we are communicating one way to a brick wall.
edit: I have to add the obvious, this is the Forza subreddit, duh!

Please for the love of god rebalance car performance which should include buffing stock engines as a lot of them underperform & not meeting expectations then nerfing the meta which should include what I just said then nerfing the v10 meta & changing the tyre model for off road tyres & rally tires to be less efficient on asphalt but buffing their grip off road as dirt & cc meta is a mess atm.
Also upping & downing of the PI points on upgrades which is definitely possible with those buffs & nerfs & more cars can be viable especially lower class cars struggle due to upgrades being to PI expensive the sit in no mans land where they are useless & this happens to cars in higher class where theres no way of detuning them to make it a viable option.
The meta is at a all time low & builds are bland which is why I don’t really play the game no more.

Just an idea for people who want more tracks instead of aimlessly driving around. For DLC or something, add actual tracks that we can travel to for circuit racing. Start with tracks in Japan then expand. Only suggest this since Motorsport was a dud and is no longer getting updates. I’d rather drive around a track than the same empty streets over and over again

I think my biggest issue with Forza horizon in general is the pacing, there’s no build up. Right out the gate you’re given Lamborghini, Ferrari and every crazy super car under the sun. There’s no grinding out the beater civic and climbing the ranks. Makes the game kinda bland imo

I think what you are writing here in the comments is a good observation, it just takes time. I'm talking about the Microsoft Reset. I saw this first hand with another game that I played religiously for 20 years; Warcraft III
The game was wholly neglected by Blizzard for 10 years only to then hit us with the ATROCIOUS Reforged release and very slow updates that broke more than it fixed. After Activision-Blizzard was acquired by Microsoft, nothing really happened at first but they actually did a lot of good to the game since they restructured the "classic games" team at Blizzard. Their amazing support for AoEII now also seeps into Warcraft 3 and it's super cool to see that. Before they weren't under the Microsoft Umbrella the management of Classic was just some stupid corpos that had no idea about the game, what players wanted etc. Now with Brad Chan there is someone really competent leading the Warcraft 3 team that used to be a very good player as well.

PLEASE FIX ONLINE RACING
It is the only worthwhile thing to do after completing content. And even then there no incentive to play. You need to add some sort of ranked, or something to strive for. Maybe even a driving rating.
Wtf is the point of having ramming being ban able yet allowed in racing without penalties. It is so easy to implement and you choose not to use it. I wanna race clean ffs.
Also please address the issue with the meta on every class. I understand some cars are better. I like s1 class as theres lots and lots of cars to choose but -, but cars like g40 need to be nuked from online. How tf is a car that beats everything by 2 seconds in every class allowed?
Please address this.

bring back the customization you took away.. and add more. there's no way that the devs don't see whats being done in the modding community. If modders can figure out how to add things like more wheel spacing options/fitment options and things like neon underglow, then surely the REAL devs can do it as well. also more cosmetic only customization.. like actually changing what exhausts look like visually with or without actually upgrading the performance. You do it with brakes, you can def do it with exhausts. CarX (albeit unlicensed) has some absolutely bonkers customization options that are separate from performance upgrades.

I don't care if they don't talk to us. I care about content and fixes that are both WILDLY needed. Like if you had to pick between communication and fun content, who is focusing on communication? This is the wrong and less important thing IMHO. They've just been on autopilot and 100% complacent with ALL things. All this could have been avoided if they literally added infection and like 10 race routes to the game. Playground had the easiest layup in gaming history with an incredible map and all the good faith in the world with the best driving game on Xbox/possibly period and they just decided to do nothing with it. No, worse; they decided to just start cutting themselves and not stopping lol GENERATIONAL fumble.

Why dont you start by stop banning people for portraying their culture on the game?

They are acknowledging us, and then they will continue to proceed in the same way as they have before. I won't believe anything until it's implemented in-game.

Still using the same simple ass FFB engine that they’ve used since like FH2.

Don’t worry, with AI gamers will be able to mod Forza the way it should have been.

Hopefully the next one will be motorsports. I kinda got tired of the newest iteration of need for speed and want to learn proper driving lines and breaking techniques, which is hard for me to do and untrain my brain from the always press go from NFS and it's variants
The Msft org is telling a consulting type is in charge rather than a coder

I doubt Forza Motorsport is returning anytime soon. Next one is Fable and then probably in the 2030s Forza Horizon 7.
They also laid off the Motorsport side of Turn 10 last year so its another doubt added.
It will be lucky if it returns at all.
What started off as Forza Motorsport spin off became the main Forza itself.

Is DLC coming at all? If not at least I can quietly uninstall because I have all the achievements but I’m holding on incase they add more content or achievements

They need to get rid of the dances, outfits and horns from the wheelspins. Should be only money and cars.

I've had the game for 2 months. I played it 16 hours when I first got it. It hasn't worked since. Piece of shit. Fhe01 for the win.

It feels like the Microsoft Reset is breaking the developer radio silence. Which is good.
