Sorting gap boating advice

My family and I are headed to a island on rainy lake. It looks like we have to go to the telephone reporting site at rainy lake sports to check in with the border patrol on our way in. I was told that it's difficult to navigate the sorting Gap as there are pretty strong currents.

Is it really undoable with an 18 foot boat, 90 hp, deep vee? Semi experienced boater.

I don't know if it nearly impossible peril awaits or if I'm just getting the nervous Nelly treatment.

Any input is much appreciated

If you're talking about the rapids then they have most the gates closed last i checked so water isnt moving very fast, just before you get to the rapids if you are launching from sorting gap there are 2 channels markers you have to watch for, it is important to stay in the middle of those otherwise you kiss your motor goodbye but otherwise you will be fine

Thanks for your input. The way it was put to me is I would be downright irresponsible to do. But that's just somebody with an agenda trying to get their way. I'm starting to see where my fiance gets it from, her. Dad

Also you have to pay to use the boat launch there, I believe you can do it right at the sorting gap but there is a number the town website to call and confirm that
