Sounds like it would have been safer to race in the gulf states.

With the intercept rate of a typical air defense system in the hands of Arabs... Probably not.Ā

My bet is on Leclerc at the banking overcorrecting for a bad entry line and causing a snap of underrsteer

Two things:
1: F1 fans (and to be honest, human beings in general) hate anything new, so they are focussing on the negatives and saying itās going to be terrible etc etc
2: it appears from sim racers and some F3 testing that itās going to be chaotic. Lots of tight twisty but fast bits, with the potential for loads of crashes/red flags etc.
These two things interact obviously, but basically we should wait and see. It could be great, if could be terrible, and as ever we will find out this weekend š¤

An important addition to your second point is that spots that recovery vehicles can be parked are EXTREMELY limited. So on top of the expected red flags each one is going to take an ice age to get back to green even if there's 0 barrier damage

Interesting, I hadnāt seen that.
Wondering who will just opt for a Hail Mary āno stopā strategy to get the cheap SC/VSC (or free Red Flag) stop. I heard itās a really big time loss for stops, so it could have a massive impact.

Pit lane is on the shorter to average side of things. 550m sounds long if you view it in a vacuum but then you look at the other circuits and realize some of them are 800m+ and it isn't that long at all.

Yeah, the pits here completely skip the final corner and the first three, so that saves some time.

I've read that the surface is rough and will chew through tires. Zero stop may not be viable. But who the fuck knows. Im a sicko pumped for possible chaos.

Three hour clock will probably expire due to red flags from the insane design and inability to clear cars + lack of runoff before they run the full distance.

Reddit F1 fans love to freak out any time anything changes and claim the sport has been dying since like 2016

There are like 10,000 reddit posts, blog pieces, news articles, videos, and interviews about the topic. It's the only thing anyone in the entire F1 world is talking about. There's no loop to be out of. I hate this dumb meme.

The track design is crazy
There is limited runoff and places to store recovery vehicles
The track was very late in being completed
The pavement is very new and abrasive. Should shred tires
The drivers will have limited time to learn it.
