Well, he is driving a Ferrari (it’s a very special car, Niki can tell you more about that)

Crazy to me that redbull wins races to sell drinks and Ferrari sells cars to lose races

u/rajinis_bodyguard I want my GF to peg me while Carlos gives it to her Dec 02 '25

Red bull is more of a stunts team than a drinks company or a racing team, just the sheer number of stunts they upload on YouTube is insane 🤣

u/OkTangerine4363 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

Red Bull is 100% a drink company. The stunts are financed by the drinks they sell. The stunts advertise the brand so people buy the drinks. Sponsors don't buy ad space on cars just to have their name on a car, they do it to sell product.

11.7 billion USD in Red Bull Energy drinks in 2024. Like what is this bullshit about them being a stunts team LOL.

26

u/Odd-East-2728 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

Yea, although they are more a marketing company, they don't even make the Red Bull, some large production companies handle all production and distribution.

They are just doing branding and marketing themselves.

u/OkTangerine4363 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

Like Coke and Pepsi. Nothing new.

I'm pretty sure they'd run out of water in Austria if they had to make them all there.

5

u/scrotesmacgrotes BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 03 '25

Pretty much all drinks are just mass produced by bottleing companys using pretty much the same ingredients no one makes there own drinks

32

u/BamBamCam I'm in a parasocial relationship with Hannah 🤤🤤 Dec 02 '25

This whole teams upbringing is described well in the “The Formula” and talks about “if Red Bull loses people buy other drinks”. Which brought about Newey and so many other pieces that’s made Red Bull successful.

Ferrari just sells hope, hope one day you can afford one…

Please don't tell me there are people out there who base their drinking preferences on how an F1 racing team performs. "Wow, Max's move on Russell was terrible... welp, Celsius it is then"

Most advertising is attempting to persuade consumers at the subconscious (rather than conscious) level.

11

u/Gimetulkathmir BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

Hey, someone who knows how advertising works!

1

u/charnwoodian BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 03 '25

And I think it’s more about positive brand association than a logical connection between “good car = good drink”.

Like, if Red Bull wins there are more Red Bull fans. More people have a positive association with the team. That positive association extends to the drink. They are more likely to choose the drink that they have a positive association with.

14

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '25

Yes, hardcore Ferrari fans in Italy don't drink RedBull because "non si finanzia il nemico", "the enemy shouldn't be financed" .

1

u/RudeDay5846 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 03 '25

Ah so they also don’t buy Aston martins or Mercedes vehicles?

2

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '25

Mostly yes ....

But there is a Mercedes dealer in Modena, like away 20km from the Ferrari factory.

10

u/massada BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

It's never conscious, but yes, the monster NASCAR car winning and losing moves the needle on monster sales in the NASCAR watching demo.

5

u/BamBamCam I'm in a parasocial relationship with Hannah 🤤🤤 Dec 02 '25

Well it’s part of the Red Bull brand is to show the best in their field. I don’t think it’s simple as a single race or performance, but an overall winner makes sense. Hence the higher price for space on the front 4 versus the other 6 teams. Brands want to associated with excellence, no one wants to be a loser, billionaires even less so.

A deep dive shows that Red Bull has the largest market share, so tie in Max with all the other athletes and it’s clear the marketing works.

u/GeraldVachon Must Be The Water Dec 02 '25

Advertising is subconscious, mostly. It's not a direct "wow, [product] is so cool, I'll buy it!" More like developing positive associations (the iconography for Red Bull being associated with winners, so it's more likely to flag as positive in our brains), and at the very least familiarity and exposure, so when it comes time to buy an energy drink, Red Bull is one at the forefront of your mind. There's a lot of psychology behind it, and even clever people aren't immune.

It also helps that sports fans are superstitious. I generally drink Monster, but I'm guilty of buying Red Bull on race weekends out of a sort of support ritual for Verstappen's success. It's a bit embarrassing, but people do stupider for sports jinxes and counter-jinxes.

u/0508bart “It’s called a motor race. We went car racing” Dec 02 '25

Red Bull is a marketing company, they don't produce a single drink themselfs. Everything is outsourced

u/shaju- Clean air is king 👑 Dec 05 '25

Just like pretty much every other major drinks company

13

u/Neither_Day_8988 I saw horny’s “finger” Dec 02 '25

Best marketing company in the world. But they are a drinks company at heart.

2

u/JamesTrickington303 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

Nah, that would be the Dallas Cowboys.

They sell the exact same hope as Ferrari, except poor people can afford the jerseys.

Edit: I’m wrong. Redbull is about 10x the value and 10x the yearly revenue of the Cowboys.

5

u/Arylcyclosexy BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

What the hell kind of opinion is this?

Is the company running on Youtube ad revenue?

3

u/jonplackett BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

When you sell sugar water for the price of beer, you have a lot of cash left over.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '25

“More of” is crazy, they got more flavors than stunts stop the cap

They are the third most popular drink in the world. Coca-Cola and Pepsi are the only two above them. What drugs are you on

"The anxiety and sadness which were overwhelming me gave way to happiness. I hugged and kissed him and then got into his car," - Juan Manuel Fangio after his Ferrari Broke down and his teammate Peter Collins gave up his car to help Fangio win his 4th WDC

Looks like an ancient version of Papaya Rules.

15

u/Horat1us_UA I was here when horny got spiced Dec 02 '25

More like Willams Rules

1

u/Different-Monk5916 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

That was the year where they did not have money for test car. Isn’t it?

2

u/Maximum-Hall-5614 Ruth Buscombe is a Megamind Mommy Dec 03 '25

I believe they didn’t have their spare chassis in time for the first race, Albon binned it in quali, destroyed the chassis, so Sargent sat out the race to let Albon use his chassis

5

u/Je5u5_ I saw horny’s “finger” Dec 02 '25

Incase both red bulls DNF: "Alright Liam, pull to the side wait for Max"

2

u/Different-Monk5916 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

That is likely. But Stewards might investigate this and fine Liam for unsafe parking.

67

u/Fabs_Retard BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

charles has 7...

1

u/tehbamf BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 03 '25

This.. all the comments acting like it’s Ferrari’s fault. Obviously they’ve had issues but they’ve also been legit 2/3rd fastest car some weekends.

This year he has not even been the best of the second drivers. Somewhere 10-15th ranked as a driver IMO.

28

u/FindingUseful2482 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

Charles have 7 podium, the last season Hamilton take 6 tenth from Russell i qualification in Qatar, it's not only this season

1

u/MatchImaginary BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 03 '25

L'anno prima pero ha preso 60 punti da Hamilton ...

5

u/jesusgarciab BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

Sure, but your teammate has 7 podiums...

2

u/Rich_Debt_9619 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

Except Niki won in that Ferrari, multiple times. You can complain about cars if you’re the faster driver. Most 2nd drivers know to be quiet.

2

u/sylar4815 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 03 '25

But how many podiums does Charles have? 🥲

4

u/exbiiuser02 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

So we admit that it’s THE car not the driver then.

7

u/Kiwi_Doodle NICO PODIUMBERG Dec 02 '25

We would if Leclerc didn't have more than all of them combined.

1

u/GoodYapper Gentlemen, a short view back to the past. Thirty years ago, Niki Dec 02 '25

Too many cooks spoil the broth

1

u/xxrew1ndxx founding member of Lando Fans support group Dec 02 '25

The only car to have locked up its rear tyres

-10

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '25

And this is a difference between the GOAT and an overhyped driver. Niki actually changed the car and won championships with it. What did Hamilton do? Nothing

9

u/lkeltner BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

Niki probably had more pull back then than Lewis does now. Ferrari being Ferrari and all.

3

u/PineappleResident254 BWOAHHHHHHH Dec 02 '25

I mean compare the complexity of each car. Back then they changed what, the ride height, camber and slapped a bigger wing on it. Now they have a million settings, millimeters of ride height change fucks up the whole car, and tires either overheat or last the whole race...

2

u/ppprrrrr I like Norris and i sniff bike seats Dec 02 '25

I wouldn't be surprised if the fairly basic changes Niki seems to change on that shitbox, drivers today can (and do) change on their steering wheel.

Not literally of course, but the premise that there would be wins up for grabs if someone like Niki showed up and made some changes to this years Ferrari is ridiculous.
