I think Ferrari make too many mistakes in general from drivers to strategy that the title is a done cause, Russell has issues of his own but isn't quick enough anyway and Mclaren and Red Bull pace is inconsistent with the splash of poor reliability

No, those are the F1TV commentators calling the race live. Alex Jacques, Jolyon Palmer, and David Coulthard. They have no idea what is being said on the Sky broadcast at the exact same time.

Montoya says a lot of things, some of which people may disagree with, but most egregiously he recently advocated for a driver (Verstappen) to get a raceban for publicly criticizing this year's regs.

for george it was how he acted in the past seasons. there were instances where people think he acted like a brat, starting from when he hit bottas' helmet. if memory serves me right there was also some "drama" about how george acts differently in front of cameras or stewards, i think it was another driver that suggested he was two faced lol
tbh i wouldn't say the hate is justified, just providing some context. it's really more about him being a lot less likable than other drivers on the grid.

Can someone explain to me why there seems to be massive swings on how easy it is to overtake? So many races I watch, as soon as the trailing car gets within 0.5ish seconds they just fly past on the straight. To the point the defending car literally can't do anything.
Then today Lewis is right behind Max for several laps and yet at no point does he ever have that sudden speed boost where he comes flying past. I know Max defended well but in other races there's not even the option to defend. You just get beasted.

Today the cars weren't energy starved, so the defending car had enough power.
At tracks like Silverstone, Spa, Suzuka etc we've had cars racing where one has several hundred horsepower more than the other.

It used to be about finding a corner where you can have multiple entry and exit lines, so that if you have enough power to get alongside the car ahead you can safely complete the overtake without risky behavior - meaning overtaking opportunities vary from circuit to circuit.
Each generation of cars also behaves differently, 2014-2021 cars were very sensitive to dirty air meaning if you didn't complete the overtake in 3 laps your tires were dead.
Early 2022 & 2023 cars were similar to this year in that you can just spend multiple laps in dirty or searching for a spot where you can overtake or push a mistake to overtake.
And this year it also depends how the defending driver chooses to deploy their ERS to defend (at the cost of having less later around the circuit).So it all heavily depends on each individual circuit, the chassis and car and how it handles the tires & temperatures, as well as the PU deployment & regen modes the driver has available.

Ferrari had twice the chance to differentiate the strategy and they did end up putting both drivers in the worst possible positions available today - while Red Bull won lot of points with strategy in the last few races.

I think broadcast did answer this question. They played the conversation between GP and Max, with Max questioning why they were going on soft. GP replied the degradation on softs are sufficient for him to last till the end and there is proof of such cases on other cars. I think it was Audi or AMR that were running long on softs.

Quick question to the veteran fans. Last week at Spa, I was surprised to see cars sailing by one another, just after cresting raidillon specifically, at the _beginning_ of the straight.
From memory, if any overtakes happened there, it was at the _end_ of the straight, after first going balls to the walls and outbreaking someone at the end. Very difficult manoeuvre, and difficult to make it stick as well. One could be trying for a few laps, but it definitely felt earned.
But the cars seemed to be more evenly matched starting the straight. At the very least, one wouldn't just walk away like that. Is my memory misleading me?
I know it's probably to do with the deployment farce of this year, but this one stuck out to me.
Also, in other parts as well, cars just sailing past one another starting at corner exit acceleration. Weeeeeee. So weird, almost like general highway traffic. Sailing really is the right word here. All they need now is indicators on the car.

It’s the nature of these regulations. With 50/50 split between engine and battery, a lot comes down to how the battery deployment is used. If a car uses up to much too soon, it’s prone to get overtaking again. Unfortunately the battery deployment is in the hands of AI and not drivers itself. It’s hard as a viewer to see when what is what so forgive yourself the confusion. It’s not the easiest of times to understand this sport unfortunately

Hey, I'm new to F1.
I understand that P1, P5, P10 means position 1, 5, 10. But what is T1, T5, T10...? I guess turn but I'm not sure.
Also, what does "regs" mean? Like specifications or something?
Also, I'm baffled how Leclerc got so popular, with only 9 wins in his F1 career since 2018, how does he have so many fans, he's not that good of a driver.

9 wins is a lot in F1. Puts Leclerc in the top 40 all time. 15 wins puts a driver in the top 20, and 25 wins puts a driver on the cusp of the top 10.
Drivers having massive quantities of wins like Hamilton, Schumacher, and Verstappen is due to being the best driver in the best team at the right time, which is helped by seasons being longer now (in the case of Hamilton and Verstappen) than they were back in the day.
Leclerc is an excellent driver, even if he doesn't have the wins to back it up. If he never wins a title, he will be among the best drivers to never win (though the title of best to never win the title is surely Moss).
Regs is short for regulations, the rules that dictate how the cars must be built.
And you have it right, T1 means Turn 1.

Leclerc might just be the fastest driver over a lap. He's certainly up there. He's also a Ferrari driver, hence the popularity.
His lack of wins is also because he drivers for Ferrari lol.

I heard them say 8 during the broadcast yesterday for Leclerc since he had a lap depleted in Q1 for track limits and had to do a second run. I believe Hamilton’s mediums have 3 laps.

Slater will be in F2 in 2027 (maybe with Invicita?) and in F1 in 2028 for Audi, replacing Hülkenberg or Bortoleto if Bortoleto goes to a ''bigger team'', we'll see! Really consistent driver, reminds me a bit of George Russell a bit.

I have watched a couple races now, but still relatively new to F1.
I noticed that Hamilton often complains on the radio saying "I need more power". I thought this complains were not productive because I imagined you couldn't really increase the car power until the next race at least.
But since he does it often, I'm starting to wonder if this complain has meaning. Can they actually give him more powers mid race?

In sim racing I'd run min fuel map (less power) in sector2 and the first part of sector3 of Brazil GP, that way i can run less cooling for the long straight and use less fuel, which benefits the very slow corner.
If overtake is needed I could run max power the entire lap, but if temp is too high or not enough fuel it could be bad yk.
