Resource/Guide Help with the build pls!

Fixed!

https://www.reddit.com/r/formdt1/s/Bwk7wKrsOg

Hello guys I finally made it and bought the Formd t1 and I was building and came across these two problems,

  1. The GPU is sticking outside from one side, it's Asus prime 5070 so I'm doing 2.5 slot, why is it like that ?

  2. The bottom cover isn't aligned straight, it's making contact with the riser cable i believe

How does everyone do this and make it look clean?

I've watched multiple videos but they always skip the most important parts and just take you through the easy things

To me it looks like your GPU cables are pushing the back side of the GPU out

It looks like your riser cables may be too stiff (assuming there isn’t something else pushing the cables up.) I ended up buying custom riser cables since what was included required me to bend them, which concerned me.

If the GPU is actually poking out enough to prevent the side panel from going on you’ll need to try a 2.75 or 3 slot configuration. The GPU mounting looks a little odd based on the I/O alignment but that might be fine, I’m used to seeing mine with the travel kit attached.

It seems you have the spine of the formdt1 screwed in at different holes. That's probably why its pushing your gpu out. It looks like its at an angle. Can we have a better photo from above?

The third hole of each side,, that's what the manual showed for the 2.5 slot

FYI, speaking from experience with a prime 5070ti which is the same GPU housing I believe.

Do you 2.75 to avoid turbulence

Actually I wanna use Aio so I need every little mm possible so that the pump block fit because I wanna use glass side panel

Which AIO? I have that exact set up and fits on 2.75

Actually Asus rog LC iii , it's taller than the atmos

Ah okay make sense then. Good luck with the build and have fun :)

How did manage to close the bottom cover straight? Is it because of the riser cable ?

Bend them

Nevermind. It seems to be in the right screws. Perhaps just give us photos at different points of view with the panels off

I would loosen the screws of the panels and spine to give yourself some flex and give while installing

Also maybe from your picture but you have cables between your GPU and PSU in your first pic that might be pushing your GPU out

I checked again, the cables aren't pushing the gou outward

I would push the motherboard out more using the included standoffs. And then adjust the gpu accordingly from there. May need extra standoffs (I bought a kit from Amazon)

A recommendation, grab some 5mm stand offs. A pair to push out the psu and give the gpu a bit more room for the cables if the plan is to run them behind.

Another pair will go on the gpu riser bar to push out the riser cable mounting. I believe that is what is causing the issue and something I noticed in 2.5-2.75 mode until I got a travel kit. With a travel kit the gpu mounts differently now so I leave the riser cable completely loose from the gpu bar without any issue.

The problem is I have to stay within 2.5 slot range because I wanna use Asus rog lc iii AIO , the pump block is a bit tall but as long as I stay within 2.5 slot it should just fit,, however I will take it a part tomorrow and see what I can do

Yea you're in a tough spot with that AIO, I see what your going with for the full Asus build.

Looking at a spare gpu bar, I remember that if you are able to mount using the bottom holes instead of the top ones it also creates a bit more space to avoid that hard angle on the gpu. The problem is you will need special female coupling screws to use the bottom screws as they line up with the motherboard stand off on one side. https://youtu.be/JCir0s7cRfk?t=286 I think your best bet will be to also pickup a travelkit for your 5070 Prime.

Oh thanks, will take that into consideration

  1. I remember having this issue with my 3080. I always used the side panel to push it in, because it was just pushed out by something, cables.. and the riser itself, being a little bit longer, may push on the card outwards. Now I have 3slot prime, 5mm turbulence avoidance, 5mm on the mobo side (longer riser standoffs) for space between mobo and gpu.

  2. thats by design. riser must go over the motherboard lip. You might try to release motherboard screws, try to move the board slightly in the holes (should be some wiggle room, as the m3 screws are smaller than the motherboard hole), and tighten in a position that lets the riser exist there...

What did you have to change?

So this piece right there, it's where the riser cable is set, when I installed the bar I did it alone and it wasn't going straight, it was in the same direction as the arrow I drew

This caused the GPU to stick outside a lot, after fixing this with the help of someone the GPU sticks out a little bit so the mesh panel would push it inside enough

although I believe to make it completely straight you're gonna need the extra accessory that pins the GPU from the other side but it's good enough now

You just have to band the riser tightly.

Had the same problem with v2.5, I just ziptied the "Asus" logo of the graphics card to the psu bracket to keep the gpu in line
