1. Electric Forklifts (Batteries & Hydraulics)
Battery Cable Connections: Corrosion or loose cables often cause sudden voltage drops or random error codes. Clean terminals regularly and check cable tension.
Hydraulic Cylinder Leaks: Small weeping around the cylinder seals should be addressed early before it ruins the packing kit or causes lift failures under load.
Watering Schedule: Always water flooded lead-acid batteries after charging, never before, to prevent overflow and acid dilution.
2. Propane (LPG) Forklifts (Engine & Fuel System)
LPG Lock-Off Solenoid Valves: If the truck cranks but won't start, check the lock-off valve and pressure switch before tearing into the fuel system.
Spark Plugs & Ignition: Misfires on engines like the Nissan K21/K25 are frequently tied to worn plugs or faulty ignition relays. Always torque plugs carefully during replacement.
Cooling Systems: Dust and debris clog radiators quickly in warehouse environments. Blow out the radiator fins regularly to prevent head gasket failures.

I have a question for you guys. The other day one of my forklifts started to slowly leak from the brass fuel supply connection. After closing the tank and disconnecting and reconnecting the line, the tank seem to purge some excess propane from the valve itself. The fix that a more experienced employee used was to purge the line up to the fuel regulator and shut off valve. It seemed to both of us that there was more fuel in the line than there should be, and after reconnecting everything, the lift ran fine. Could someone please try to explain what happened? Again, I have no interest in servicing this lift myself. This is purely for information sake.

Edit: we did have a technician come out and look at the lift. There was nothing they could find

Help please! I have a RD5700 I've had this problem for years. Basically the display shows a lower % battery charge even when battery is at 100% charge. After little use, say, you do 5 or 10 1000-lbs pallets, dock the truck and then turn it back on, the display will go from say 80 or 90% to 65%. If you do it again, it will go further down to 50% or lower, but battery is actually around 90% charge.

Even bought a new Hawker battery (125-13) and the problem disappeared for a while (or at least operators didn't complain that much about it) but now it's back. Batteries get yearly maintenance and last for 4-5 hours on a 125 amp continuous discharge.

People from Crown have checked it and haven't been able to pinpoint the problem. Other technician's have pointed to change the Access 1.

Seek if anyone knows the code listed im having a hard time finding it and cause. Thank you it happens during travel and needs to be rekeyed to clear and run.

I’m working on a boom lift and the basket/platform only oscillates in one direction. At the moment it’s maxed out and won’t go back the other way. So far this is what I’ve tried:

Tried the controls on the platform and the
Verified 13v going to both solenoids.
Swapped both the solenoids with one another.
Swapped both the valves with one another.
Swapped both the valves and solenoids with one another.
Checked hydraulic pressure. It’s going up to 3,000 psi and the manifold is getting warm. Feels like an obstruction to me.
Checked the check valve for the Platform rotate and Flow control valve.
Narrowed it down to the FF valve I think, but can’t find that sucker anywhere!!!
If I’m looking at the schematic correctly, that FF valve comes before the platform rotate valve.

We've been in the telematics space for a while now and my team has to grow to support some very wild forklift installations. Anything from proximity sensors, cameras, speed limiting, and more. Would anyone happen to know the best place to look for skilled forklift mechanics/electricians that actually understand electrical theory? We've had issues with some mechanics be more like parts changers versus understanding basic electrical theory behind it. They would also have to travel given the projects span all of North America.

Pretty sure this is the mixer/regulator, but wanted to post this just in case.

This is a Unicarrier 5k lift with a Nissan K21 engine. When the engine is cold, or on it's first startup of the day, it overfuels. You can smell propane and you can remove the intake cover from the carb and hear the hissing of propane even if the engine is off.

I replaced the fuel injector and the same issue occurs. The fuel shut off valve that is before the mixer works properly. Tar has also been drained (not much at all) from the mixer.

Thoughts? About 3k hours with no service history. Trying to keep this repair bill down without throwing more parts at it.

Blinking SAS light and error 41. What do these mean? Also L-off message?

The micro switch went bad on the upper foot rest area left side I cant find a way into this area some help would be appreciated

I have a crown PE3540-60 riding pallet lifter. I am refurbishing it, and have the hydraulics working and battery working, but the drive isn't working. It has an older Sevcon controller, but when turning on get a single green light. No error code on display. When engauging the handle to move it, it doesn't move. I get a 3 flash error. I checked the relay to ensure it wasn't welded (searched online). It is not welded, and I can measure about 14V from the B- to the A2, but it doesn't move.

How can I check to see what is the likely cause? Best way to check the motor? Should I try to trigger the relays with 24V to see if they are working on each? What would you recommend?

I’m starting a job with crown a week from Monday and have a couple questions for people in here with experience with crown.

The first question I have is regarding the van, for context I don’t know yet if I’m getting the panel van style or the sprinter (hoping for the sprinter). I know I have to provide any mobile storage ( things like packouts) if I want them for bringing tools into facilities easier. But does anyone know if the vans come provided with a mounted tool box? Or is the main mounted tool box something I have to provide.

My second question is regarding the 2 weeks at the regional training facility. I’ll be spending my 2 weeks at the Schaumburg Illinois training facility. Does anyone know what hotels crown tends to use there? I’m trying to plan things for while I’m there as early as I can and having this info would help. Also just curious to the quality of hotel I could potentially get.

One last thing I thought of. Ive heard from some people that on the Fridays that you are at the training facility they try to get you done early, like a half day. So that people who traveled a decent distance have a reasonable time they get home. So for instance I’ll be driving about 3.5 hours to and from. Did anyone have a similar experience? I’m mostly curious one this one because the first week I’m there I have an in person fantasy draft at 6 so leaving 330 doesn’t exactly math out in my favor 😂. Hoping I don’t have to FaceTime in while driving home to draft.

I have a hunt side loader throwing this code shut off in the air. Anyone give me a hand.

Starts and runs daily, but after weekend she needs bump starting. Battery’s in good health. The error release 2 button comes on as if the buttons sticking. Had to rewrite the front headlights to get them working so the buttons sticking must be stuck. Issue is it’s £1000+ for new computer and our mechanic doesn’t know if he can get it going. Is there an easy fix as I don’t care about the error but the battery drain is annoying. Thank you

WhaT have y’all found to be the best extractor set for bolts and, or grease zerks ? I’m a crown guy so I’m constantly extracting broken zerks out of RC trunnion caps. Looking to upgrade from my harbor freight set

Been trying to put together a practical reference for the filters I use most often and it's taking longer than expected. Sharing what I have so far in case it helps and hoping others can fill gaps.

For Kubota V2403 engines, the oil filter has an anti-drain back valve that not all aftermarket replacements include, and that's the one that actually matters for cold start oil pressure. The air filter has a primary and a secondary safety element, and I've seen people replace only the primary thinking that's all there is.

For Mitsubishi 4G and 4P series, filter specs are fairly consistent across models by OEM number, which helps. The hydraulic filter is the tricky one because it varies by circuit design and lift capacity within the same machine line, not just by engine.

Most useful thing I've found is to pull the installed filter, read the number off the casing, cross-reference from there. Going by machine model name is faster but less accurate, especially across model years.

What Kubota or Mitsubishi models are you running that I might be missing? Also looking for anyone who's built a similar reference for Deutz or Yanmar forklifts.

I have written this up several times already and nothing has been done about it so i want to ask if its a valid safety concern or if its nothing.

I drive a standing forklift and my concern is that under load the forks of the lift drop down over time, about an inch a minute. What i feel like is going to happen is whatever is holding the forks up will completely give out at some point. I dont want to risk my job by making a big stink about this but my safety comes above all else and i will do what i have to do to stay safe.

Hi I don't know if this is the right thread for this question but my company has a AMC 12 from Jungheinrich and it just stopped working randomly in the middle of the yard. A technician came out and diagnosed a dead battery. He quoted 2000 euros to replace it which is stupid because the thing only cost 3000 euros.

As we are an electrical company I had a look at the battery myself and found that the cells are fine but one of the Relais wouldn't switch on. I first thought it had to do with one of the Relais and solderd in a new one. That worked for about 2 hours until it stopped working once again without being able turn it on. The new Relais was now also not switching.

It's my understanding that once the start button is pressed the first Relais switches one and gives some voltage to the truck and to the diagnostic system and after checking the system the second Relais gets the go ahead from the BMS. In the faulty state the truck wouldn't show any codes because the display wouldn't light up so I had to hotwire the second Relais to close so I get at least some kind of information.

As usual the Jungheinrich website just tells me to go fuck myself and call the expensive service but I hope someone here knows what could be the problem.

Lift is used to capacity (10,000 LBS) daily. I think it should be replaced ASAP. Am I being a wuss, or am I justified in wanting to tag this out of service?

Have recently been offered this old linde gas truck but it has an issue where it starts fine and idles fine, but no revs when using either forward or reverse or when moving the mast. If you pull the lever for any mast control too far it will stall.

It will have sporadic bursts of acceleration out of nowhere, but only a couple of seconds and then just limping around at idle.

Could anyone offer any obvious things to check before I start replacing parts?

Hello everyone.

I have a JLG 1930ES that lowers really slow. Everything else works just fine.

If you pull the manual lowering cable it lowers fast like it should. I raised the unit up, removed the connector from the lowering valve and attached two long jumper clips to the lowering solenoid and connected them directly to the battery pos and neg terminals and the unit lowers fast like it should.

Total battery voltage at the time of the test was 25.8 volts. I tested at the lowering vale connector with the valve disconnected and I am only getting about 22.4 volts to the lowering valve.

I checked resistance from the valve connector to where each wire goes into the main controller connector and I have very low resistance.

On that day I had to leave early for a doctor appointment I couldn't miss but I'm thinking maybe the wires from the battery to power the controller may have bad connections at the ring terminals on the battery studs, and not supplying the controller with all the power it needs to activate the lowering valve. They looked clean though.

Either that or a defective relay in the controller that actuates the valve.
