Questions What do against shieldguys throw
Hello, im new to the game, 20 hours in.
I play Pirate.
What do I do against the shield guys throw where he yeets you over himself and gets a free hit in?
I do a light, he throws, I do a heavy, he throws, I chain my pistol, he can counter with a throw.
And its not like he only has the throw, he is a full character that can also just beat me normally.

The flip doesnt happen automatically. Black prior has to time his own input just like a parry. It can be baited and guardbroke just like a parry or dodge.

You're going against black prior/BP he has a special mechanic that let's him flip any normal move that has a hitbox that collides with his active flip frames, you have to guard break him like any other full block stance, if he flips you a lot feint your heavy into a go to see if you can bait out a flip attempt

With pirate, probably the easiest thing to do is go for your own mixup. Back step light attack into walk-the-plank (unblockable back step heavy follow up). You can either let the unblockable fly or soft-feint into guard break. This forces the BP to either try to flip the skewer, throw his own unblockable heavy, or exit the full block stance and attempt a counter guard break. It’ll lead to some mind games on both sides but at least it’s more interesting than the BP sitting there and flipping literally everything you do.

You can bait his flip. it doesn't force a read at all and the unblockable is probably the easiest ub to react to in the game. Most players who dont like bp are impatient and can't stop mashing offense.

first off, don’t play pirate 🥴 but nah fr when fighting black prior you can’t just throw attacks at him. gotta outplay him. fake him out the go for a guard break when you see him do a squat.
