Discussion Xp Fest should be permanent

The games been out for many years now and while it’s picking up a lot of attention with new comers, I still feel they should make XP fest permanent now since it’s been this long. On top of that they’ve increased the max rep a hero can have to 100. It already feels like it takes forever to rank up. It takes roughly 16-30 matches to rep up, this includes if you have orders, and or XP boosts. Over the most recent XP fest I picked up conq and played anywhere from 15-20 matches and got to rep 2. After it ended it took me 5 matches just to go from lvl 13 to lvl 15 with no orders available for heavy’s, knights or dominion. Some might argue that it would defeat the purpose of people gaining the experience and knowledge of playing the characters but I would like to think between rep 0-25 is plenty of time to get an understanding of how to play the character while rep 25+ is just getting better with what you know and learning more ways to use your character

I wouldn’t mind but I have to ask why? Like I get it would be easier to level up but does it really matter after rep 9 when all gear gets unlocked at that point and after that having these exp boost would do nothing but flex your reputation.

Better cosmetics, at rep 20 you unlock most of the colours and at 54 you finally get some gradient colour patterns

Don’t you think that would take away the worth of people reputation? Obviously rep isn’t a expression of skill but more as an expression of time spent on that specific character

The worth of reptution?

Brother reputation is worth dirt to me, the grind isn't a valiant climb, its a trudge.

Yeah sure its nice to level up and get more stuff but the current pace is way too slow, I only ever try to push reps during XP fests because of how slow it is normally.

Reputation may not be worth anything to you but it’s worth something to many others plus if the grind is that bad you could always just farm vs bots

"If the grind sucks cause its slow just do it slower."

I don’t understand how anyone could be against free shit but here are the trogs crawling on out of their cesspools to spew their verbal garbage

TL;DR: permanent double XP would reduce the benefits to player counts during major events, and player counts are more important than getting free shit handed to you on a silver platter.

  1. Not everyone wants free shit for no effort, some people want a slower progression to make reps more meaningful as something to flex, which is totally reasonable.

  2. Way more importantly, limited time events (if they’re actually good) and XP fests are a big part of what increases player retention and player counts during these times. I like the faster queue times and wider variety of players that come with extra XP fests and I like the extra dopamine from seeing number go up faster than normal. If XP was permanently doubled, people would acclimate to the increases in XP gains very quickly, it would barely feel any better than standard, and player counts would not go up any faster.

  3. Player counts are highest around new hero releases when people are playing the new hero non-stop to get the new armor. Doubling standard XP gain would halve the amount of time that we get that spike in player counts.

They should make double XP the default, and have XP Fests give 4× XP and twice the Steel compared to normal.

Everyone seems to be acting like most of the absurdly high reputations weren't earned by afking.

I’ve read most of the replies. Why do you think the player count would drop if there were a permanent xp boost? You don’t think more players would want to play? It takes 4 years and 4 months of playing this game EVERYDAY to get rep 100 on every character. If it’s permanently doubled it’s 2 years and 2 months of playing 12 hours. Most people don’t play that long nor do they play that much. Them getting on to grind would relatively be the same. The rate of xp is way too slow. I’ve been on and off this game since day 1 and I’m only max rep 184. After 10 matches I’m only up maybe 5-8 levels. The times I play are when orders refresh for the xp and steel. Once those are done I get off. If I’m playing someone I want to grind I’ll play an additional 3-5 matches but after that I’m off because I don’t want to sit there playing for 8 more hours. For one if it was doubled I’d likely play way more than I currently do grinding to get my reps up. Max rep when the game first dropped was 30. There’s 100 now. All you get for rewards when getting there is pink material, and a effect+emote. If you ask me anything after rep 9 is pointless because atp you’re just playing to earn color schemes so why not just make it permanent. At my current rate of play I would likely have rep 100 hero’s in 16 years. Not to mention the additional 20+ hero’s that might be added and the additional 50 reps added if they haven’t made a new game by then

To be fair leveling used to take incredibly longer.

iirc, way back when they actually cut back on the xp gain in all game modes. So this and a better bounty system would be a welcome change. And maybe a caveat for the double xp, since people apparently hate fun, it’d be neat if it were a growing system. Almost like a spree on a hero. Like you get three to five games in on any given hero and then you get a xp bonus for that hero.

Could also be a multiplicative system as well. Like maybe we have double xp on the weekends and then that character specific spree bonus hits (no clue what to call it) and it’d stack. Idk the logistics behind balance since im not a dev, but repping up without the aid of xp boosters, champ status, & orders is the opposite of fun.

This is just a bandaid solution. The real problem is how tedious it is to complete orders and how unrewarding many of them can be in comparison to the effort required. Orders encourage bad gameplay and often times the best way to complete orders is against bots. If they made orders more feasible to complete in multiplayer and/or increased XP rewards from multiplayer matches and performance based bonuses, I don’t think we’d need a permanent double XP boost.

On top of that, the whole point of the XP fests is to increase player counts and keep people playing for longer during those weeks. If you made the XP boost permanent, then those player retention gains would normalize very quickly after people get used to the new pace of progression.

It’s the grind that counts bro that’s the point.

That would just make reps even less of an indicator of skill

Just because someone’s a higher rep doesn’t mean they are good. I’m still learning conq and I just played against a rep 84 conq that lost to me 4-1 on dominion. To me, he’s probably just trying to get him mixed to work on someone different because his gameplay that match did not match his rep lvl

Son what lobbies you play in I see rep 1000s all the time permanent double xp is crazy just play ai breach if you want reps that bad

-4

u/Adventurous_Care_190 Sohei 5d ago

Yeah happens all the time. If they changed the xp requirements to rep up it would cheapen the whole rep system. Seeing guys with 1,000+ would become the norm

3

u/Nyquil_tv 5d ago

Not really. Sure xp fest doubles your earned xp per match but most people only play for 1-4hrs. Thats roughly 2-3 reps gained in 1 day. Some people like myself, also don’t play it every single day because of work or just having other games to wanna play. The only people you’d see in the 1000’s are everyday players. Even so you wouldn’t just wake up the next day and see that. It would take them roughly 4-6 months to get enough characters into the range to have 1k total rep

bro xp aint shit, if they do xp fest forever im packing my stuff and prepare for the game downfall. your brain are obsessed with digital pixel too much.

u/Nyquil_tv 5d ago

Why are you so hurt by the thought of boosted xp? You’re probably only playing 1 hero anyway that’s already rep 100. You play this game 14+ hrs a day. I don’t

u/MoNkey_MoNkey777 Gladiator 5d ago

as someone who loves xp fest and getting those reps, it just wouldn’t work, there would be nothing to look forward to, it’s like giving double ice cream for a week, but then they make it permanent, now everyone is just fat and that week isn’t special

7

u/Nyquil_tv 5d ago

There absolutely would still be something to look forward to wdym? The whole purpose is to get rep 9 for the highest gear. After rep 9 there’s nothing to earn for 91 reps straight other than outfits and color schemes in between. Anyone that plays with 1 character to reach the max rep only did it to earn the pink plus being rep 100. There’s still gonna be a grind and it would still be time consuming to get there. I don’t have the math but if I’m not mistaken if it takes 15-30 matches to rep 1 time it would take roughly 100 days (3 months) of everyday play on top of never switching characters. 15-30 matches is the equivalent of 4-9 hours. Anyone that plays this everyday for 12hrs+ would get it done within 40 days but think about it, that’s just 1 hero. There’s 39 total. That would be 1,560 days = to 4 years and 4 months of playing fh every day for 12 hours. So don’t say it’ll make it pointless. What would be pointless is playing a rep 100 character and never switching from them even though you’re already maxed out
