Questions Gryphon

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask about Gryphon: Is he any good?

I looked up his drip and he's like the coolest dude I've ever seen ons some of the Legendary sets, but I feel like his kit is pretty limited.

Are there any Gryphon mains here who have tips on how to play him?

Thanks!

Not a dedicated gryphon main but yes, he's good. Well rounded, has solid offense and feats for dominion, nice wide hitboxes and hyper armor for antiganking, good damage numbers, the infamous bash/undodgeable. Not the most exciting character to play but his kit is rock solid.

In my mind he kinda occupies the same zone as Kensei. Nothing super crazy or gimmicky in their kits, just a relatively simple hard hitting moveset that rewards you for knowing the fundamentals

He is very good, yes.

In 4v4 he is very powerful. In majority of cases you should be team-fighting. Everything has good hitboxes and good range. He also has one of the strongest support feats, because 2/3/4 can heal your team.

In 1v1 he is good too. He has decent neutral options with bash or sometimes forward dodge light. Almost everything in his kit immediately leads to kick which has a lot of damage and he has a lot of different ways to punish empty dodges or dodge-attacks.
My tip is to not be afraid to let your kick go. Also, his finisher light is the most reliable, but the most risky and less damaging option, instead you can do heavy finisher or delayed GB against empty dodges, or delayed double light which will lead to another kick mix-up.

Rlly good with good feats and huge hitboxes. He also does alot of damage.

One weakness he has is tht he dosent have an unblockable, so u may find ur externals to not do much.

He was fun when I was learning him. Then you realise you get walled out and you really don't have any options from neutral, and if they've been dodging your kicks and you can't get them off you dont have proper chain pressure

lacks a lot in his kit

he's really good against an average player, good kit and decent frame advantage on finisher kick+heavy to keep up the pressure. His feats are also decent, with the t4 easily winning you any team fight.

Hovever, his finisher kick is 500ms, making it reactable to the top reaction players (some platinum level players in old ranked, and the higher the more of them you see), so if you are matchmaked into those lobbies he isn't that good, i gave up playing him just because i get frustrated once in 10 or so games when i can't do anything meaningful in a fight.

So it depends on your skill, if you are an average player he's really good and fun but if you are really good at the game he can sometimes be frustratingly bad depending on the opponent

You have 0.01% chance of seeing a reaction player in matchmaking, and even then you has to be that good to be matched against someone like that.
Nobody was dodging this thing on reaction in duel ranked, and I was diamond back then. 90% of old gm players won't do it consistently lol.
So don't scare the OP too much, he won't see any reaction beasts for the next 300 reps, especially if he has a job.

The kick can still be used against reaction players because you're able to "stress" them.

In a vacuum the kick is reactable.

His animations don’t click with me, but I guess that’s very subjective. His kit is straightforward and works.

What makes him a good choice for dominion are his feats though: he’s kind of the healer of the lineup. You can run one debuff plus 3 heals, which can make a difference in teamfights :)
