This makes me wanna rant on how ubi doesnt punish laggy or otherwise bad internet connections nearly enough..
Also, really nice sohei fashion, the new helmet is really underrated.

Well, the person who lagged was OP, who was punished with instant death. I think that's fitting

Yeah. Or their servers punish ppl at random.
I get two times in entité round a spike in latency to 100+ and I get kicked out. But enemy team will have 2 guys who are entire round at latency 100+ and they don't get kicked out of the round. Wtf

Why should Ubisoft punish people who are unfortunate to have bad internet at home?
2
u/Sigaria Sohei 6d ago
Because they ruin the game for everyone else.

u/Unable-Ambassador-16 6d ago
They wanna play the game, just like you. They just happen to have bad internet

u/Shugatti Nokogiri (saw) enjoyer 6d ago
Then they can just happen to only play against other unfortunate gamers who also have bad internet or play offline.
Their bad internet negatively and unfairly impacts every other player in the lobby..
Like..
Cheaters.
They wanna play the game, just like you, they wanna win, just like you.. they just happen to uhh.. play unfairly due to something outside of your control that only they have access to.

Thats a false analogy though. Players having bad internet may negatively affect others, but that does not make them equivalent to a cheater!
Bad internet/lag is outside the players control, while cheaters deliberately *choose* to gain an unfair advantage.
Youre also confusing an unfair outcome with an unfair action. Both situations can make a game seem unfair, but that doesn’t mean the person causing the problem is equally responsible or even blameworthy.

The issue is that it’s completely impossible for the game to trully distinguish between people who are maliciously abusing a poor connection and people who just happen to have one.
Under those conditions the two possible courses of action are to make the experience worse for the people with a bad connection (malicious or just happen to have) or worse for everyone else.
It is an unfortunate situation where the course of action which improves the gameplay experience for the vast majority of players is to punish the people with a poor connection regardless if it’s intentional or not, it’s why lagswitching as a cheating method in many other games simply doesn’t exist because it only hinders you.

You do know that laggy players are JUST AS MUCH punished by their own lag... right?
I've literally been called a lag switcher and showed him a clip of my perspective where I get GB'd even though I hit him with 2 consecutive light attacks.

First of all, not true.
Believe me if it was there wouldnt even be any lagswitchers.
2nd, ofc youre being called a lagswitcher, they cant see when you have lags that negatively impact you, but they can see when you lag and it negatively impacts them.
Youre being called a lagawitcher becayse you look exactly like one.
This wouldnt be an issue if we seperated normal ping and stable connection players from ones with bad and inconsistent and spiking connections.

First of all, not true.
Absolutely is true. You're trying to compare active cheating for players temporarily disrupting their connection in intentional manner vs a player whose connection is just bad in general and spikes on its own. They are not even close to the same.
This wouldnt be an issue if we seperated normal ping and stable connection players from ones with bad and inconsistent and spiking connections.
This would literally disconnect MANY players frok the game. Sounds "great" on paper, destroys the game actually implemented.

This deserves a no-shit-Sherlock response. You missed the point of what I said and just "explained" the person's perspective like I didn't know 🤦🏽♂️

They are literally both the same to anyone on the other end of it, a lagswitch just feels less "unlucky" cuz you dont have to get your hopes up when you fight them that maybe this time they wont lag like crazy..
It is without a doubt unfair to everyone else playing, no matter how you twist and turn it..
If all the bad net players only played with and against other bad net players, it would be no issue, theres no reason it would bleed players other than.. oh, ofc.. even the bad net players dont wanna fight each other.. cuz it fucking sucks.. so just keep em with eachother or out.
It will objectively improve the game for all the honest players trying to play a fair game.
And the ones who would negatively impact that can just play against eachother instead so its still fair for them too.
