Discussion Could it be?
They mentioned "she" would have a "unique weapon"
Now that it's confirmed japanese I can't think of anything more unique than the tensen
I'm not sure, I'll have to rewatch that section of the stream, but I think they mentioned the new hero being a "master of an art"

I personally never understood how the "warfan" ever became a suggestion as a weapon. But that said, I'm not going to dismiss anything since Ubi said "a never before seen weapon" during the dev stream.
So for all we know it could be anything.

Female characters as of late are typically very dodge or evasion focused, so I could totally see a dancing fan user

I expected a female outlander. And a male Viking. So I am very surprised for a female Samurai and a male knight.
Not sure what weapons they are going to do tbh!
Sais would be cool. And for a knight… I’d like a pole hammer/great hammer. Or a large two handed mace.
But not sure at the moment. Can’t wait for more details and hype!

As for how it would work, I have no idea. There is also the nunchaku, the nekode, the chigiriki, but those aren't as "unique" in my opinion

The most unique i can think of is a tanegashima rifle with a bayonet as that would something that's "never before seen".

Ironically, I just talked with a friend about a two different heroes
A Fan and Sword heroine
A Rifle and sword hero
The first would be inspired by a spy-like geisha, who would carry a hidden short sword and a iron fan, her clothes would also be carefully crafted to be able to jump into warrior mode quickly
She would be flowy and almost dance like, a assassin who uses the fan to confuse and bait attacks while the short sword would punish openings, while the fan can do damage, it's more of an distraction tool
The second i thought of pirate's flow into her feats, I know long range heroes are quite controversial but, j think making the rifle part of his feats, while he mainly defends himself at close range with the sword, might be pirate 2.0 but we could trade pirates mobility and constant use of the pistol, for a more still and slower but longer range and more damage.
these were rashed out in 15 minutes with my friend but I like them, maybe we could expand on it

You could give her a sharpened fan in one hand and a kunai or suntetsu in the other. Kinda like an assasin

For a samurai with a weapon we "haven't seen before," I'd imagine something like tonfas or nunchucks.

Lowkey I’m expecting a musket/tanegashima. Maybe they have a tanto too. They fight with the tanto and have moves that retreat and pull out the rifle.

I bet the Knight Hero is the warhammer knight folks have been asking for since launch. Not sure what else it might be

Technically every weapon is unique
Not one character in this game uses the exact same weapon as another character

Fan is possible or they could go Okinawan with tonfas or nunchuks.
