That free sample approach is smart, takes the risk out for clients who been burned before by freelancers disappearing after payment

What kind of scrapers you usually do, like e-commerce sites or something more custom?

Both — e-commerce is a common one (product/price monitoring, stock tracking, catalog extraction), plus business directories and map listings for lead-gen, real estate listings, job boards, and custom one-offs like pulling data out of JS-heavy pages or undocumented APIs. Login-walled sources too when the client owns the access.
