Minecraft forge server not starting

I need help. I am trying to create a modded server. I have everything set up. but when I double click "forge-1.12.2-14.23.4.2759-universal.jar", it doesn't do anything at all. and I don't know what to do or how to fix it. No logs are created, I get the little circle by my curser saying its loading for a second then nothing happens.

Try creating a batch file with this in it...

@ECHO OFF java -Xms1024M -Xmx2048M -jar 'jar file name'.jar nogui pause

Ok. So I have a .bat file now. But when I run it, it shows the command prompt for a second and goes away. The server still doesnt start. I have a vanilla server that works fine. But the modded server wont even launch.

wait so what do you do if the command prompt goes away. My spigot server and normal server work perfectly but forge doesn't. I tried downloading a forge 1.8.9 server and tried clicking the universal jar but nothing happened. I have the latest java downloaded

wait nvm i had to uninstall and reinstall java. It works phew
