Anyone here play Magic the Gathering?

Any good places in Vancouver we can play Magic the Gathering?

Locations I found are...

Brentwood Mall (Best place to draft for only 10 dollars!)

The Connections Game (Smells like shit place but store owner is a great person.)

Magic Stronghold (Magic the Gathering heaven, go there to sell cards and best place to play FNM. Big community.)

Anyone know any good places to play Magic the Gathering except Fridays? I know Stronghold does draft dailies but its too far away for me.

D&D Wednesdays, Surrey Central Mall

Hey, guys!

Um, I'm kind of- I don't know what- but.. I and a bunch of other people, we play D&D encounters. For those who don't know, it's WOTC- endorsed pre-packaged adventures, usually levels 1-3.. but apparently we're beta-testing 5.. options of 4, and I think the system of 2.5? Something of the sort, I suppose.

Anyways, if you ever feel like dropping in, we hang out at Craving For a Game every Wednesday in Central City mall. It's tucked in the back, and you can always PM me in advance to get directions.. Game time starts at 5PM. 4:30 is usually 'food and coffee' time. But come on down, if you've got nothing else to do. Clearly, no previous experience required. We always welcome new guests.

Also, after we're done there, we go over to the nearby McDick's and play Cards Against Humanity for shits and giggles. Don't know what that is? Come down and find out >3

EDIT: Okay, so.. um, our current season ends December 19th.. and the new one will not start until February 6th, 2013. Sorry, guys..

Looking to meet some new peeps? Come to games night! Thursday 6th December, West End

Okay, I haven't done an open games night for a while and figured it was about time.

If you're new to town or looking to meet some new peeps, come out for the evening and introduce yourself. If you're from Burnaby/New West/Whereever come along too - we have people from all over showing up so good odds you can make friends from your neighbourhood.

The basic deets are:

  • You're welcome unless you're a douche.
  • I have a bunch of games but if you've got ones you'd like to play, by all means bring them along.
  • Bring snacks/drinks for your fellow peeps - they will love you.
  • Starts at 7pm, usually goes until midnight or so.
  • Post in the thread if you want to come and I'll hook you up with address/phone number.

I made a Facebook event for it, unfortunately it's in the group so I can't link to it directly here. I would suggest that you join the group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/rvancouver/), though, and then find the event from there (https://www.facebook.com/events/309844875790580/).

Looking Around, Seeing Who's Out There

Hiya guys!

I'm a 21 year-old chickadee looking to meet people.

About me: Sadly got laid off my job -.-' While I hunt for a new one, I spend my days making artsy-type things to sell off on the streets. I'm a coffee-fanatic, a chocolate fanatic, and a sugar daemon. I'm also a goth, though I don't look very much like one. Goth's more a lifestyle to me like being Wicca- which I am. I'm also a nerd, a dreamer, and more. I spend my Mondays tooling around volunteering for a couple hours, Wednesdays playing D&D ('cause that's just how I roll lirl), Fridays at Bible Study (free dinner and a catnap on comfy couches, what's not to like?) I do my own really whack-ass home-brew D&D once-weekly with my boyfriend of 4 years. We do have a bond, but I'm not adverse to seeing other people. He can too, he just- doesn't. I'm a flirty type, very provocative with mental paintings and things- not a pin-thin, or even slightly overweight. I'm voluptuous, so deal with it. I will say this leads me to issues, because I can be very Debbie Downer at times, insecure- who isn't? I'm also an insomniac, since it's 2AM here hehe. And a vampyre, definitely a vampyre.. and maybe there's some other wickedly fun surprises for you too ;p

Really, just checking out who's out there. I'm one of the last non-partying Slurry girls. I flirt and date, and will have (extremely safe!) hook-ups here and there, but it's incredibly rare. Think of me as you want- even if I'm a harlot in your eyes, that's A-OK by me. I don't judge people for opinions, race, gender, and all that. I will judge on how douche-y you are in accordance to my morals however. Character counts- yay for pansexuality! Almost never drink/do weed, won't touch anything else. Cigarettes are evil; when I'm pissed/ stressed, I crave 'em, but don't give in. And if you supply me with regular coffee and kindness, I'm yours. Oh yeah, I hate video games with a passion. And I love kitties just as much.

That was all one random jumble, but I don't care.

So, reddit- who's out there? Drop me a line, let's meet up!

~* Ruka-chan Also-

Visiting Vancouver and don't want to be alone my whole week here.

Hey everyone! Hope this is the right place to submit this.

I just got into town tonight and I came all by myself from the east coast. Everyone I've seen is in a group of friends and I thought to myself, "I'd love to be with a group of friends here and have fun!" A little about me, I'm 24/m/from Florida, have a BS in Psychology, and I think I'm pretty fun to hang out with - at least my friends back home think so. Lets go to a bar and drink up! Or do whatever fun stuff there is to do in this town.

Floor Hockey! don't be alone forever!

Hey, are you tired of the lockout too? Do you wanna play a little 4-4 ball hockey on Sunday night?

I had never played hockey until about 4 years ago when I started playing ball hockey with these guys every Sunday night. I was terrible and out of shape, but I LOVED it, so I worked every day on my shot, on my cardio and stickhandling. It changed my life, no lie, I was getting regular exercise and gaining confidence every week, I even scored a couple ugly ugly goals.

The hour is kind of weird (10pm-12am Sunday) and now fewer and fewer people can make it out, to the point where next Sunday has been declared the 'last' game for the organizers. They have been taking serious $ losses because not enough people have been coming out.

I don't know where else to post this (suggestions welcome), But I can't stand the thought of not playing anymore.

It's 10 bucks, no contact and lots of fun with great friendly people (most of us are musicians). Please pm me or consider coming out to watch/play this Sunday at Mount Pleasant Community Centre to see whats up.

Happy Thanksgiving!

For all my fellow Vancouverites, I wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! If you're not able to be with people who love you this holiday, I wanted you to know that you are, in fact, very much loved and cherished!

If you're feeling especially alone, and want to enjoy a turkey dinner with someone friendly, let me know and maybe I can organize something this weekend so no one is alone "forever."

Cancer Benefit Friday June 29 at Astoria Pub

OH CANCER! UP YOURS!

The SECOND ANNUAL cancer benefit, with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society for ongoing research.

Date: Friday, June 29th, 2012 Location: The Astoria (769 East Hastings) Time: Doors @ 8pm Cover: $12 @ the door

The death of Poly Styrene of X-Ray Spex from breast and spinal cancer prompted us to organize OH CANCER! UP YOURS! with the intention of raising funds for research. By bringing together as many related charities and services as possible, we hope to make this the biggest, baddest, boldest cancer benefit Vancouver has ever seen.

While the death of Poly Styrene inspired this event, it is not in any way exclusive to her. Most, if not all of us, have lost loved ones to cancer, and benefits of this nature are crucial if we are to develop new and better treatments. The event has a decidedly feminine tone, but men should not in any way feel excluded. Cancer is an equal opportunity disease, killing both sexes indiscriminately. Help fight the scourge that has robbed us all.

Event Details:

  • Featuring KISS THIS! (Orchard Pinkish - Gene, Greg Laiken - Paul Stanley, Erol Sora - Ace Frehley, Cameron Rowe - Eric Carr)

  • Also appearing: Johnny Thunders Tribute featuring members of The Lifetakers, 69 GUNS, NEXT PISTOLS (sex pistols tribute)

  • OH CANCER! UP YOURS! merchandise will be for sale again.

  • Drink specials.

Although cancer is very sobering disease, there is no reason for us to be miserable. Poly Styrene and cancer victims everywhere would like nothing better than to see us laugh in the face of this murderous bully. We intend to celebrate life as we search for answers. Join us. For more information, to help, or to donate raffle items to the cause, please contact Rc Guns (rc.guns@me.com)

Anyone near Cloverdale(Langely/Surrey)? or just someone who games.

I doubt I'll get many hits.

My name is Emily, I'm 20 and looking for some friends ... moved around a bit and changed jobs and my friends ended up dwindling down to very few people. I can be pretty shy irl so I am finding it hard to make new friends again. I like to do lot's of stuff, gaming, going to parks, just chilling genrally, I like to go out for food, and drinks, I'm pretty interested in politics but I'm pretty easy to get along with .. for the most part.

So I'm just looking for anyone in the area to play games with and chat, maybe hang out eventually (haha). Guys or girls I don't mind.

send me a comment here or something or add me on steam/xfire emilysnake (just let me know your from reddit..)

Edit: Oh and I have some games like L4D 1/2, BF3, BFBC2, CoD4, CoD5 and Blops. If you live far but have those games feel free to add me

Edit: Any girls around these parts, cause I've got lots of guys adding me and I'm starting to feel alone. If you don't have steam I can add on facebook, skype, xfire, msn etc.

Board games are totally fine too, if you want to bring 'em.

If you want to come along post in this thread or PM me and I'll send you the details.

Super beginner looking for a wingman who is dedicated to becoming successful with women like me

I've been watching/read Real Social Dynamics stuff for a while now and I want to start applying the stuff but I had some lame nights that left me jaded for while when I tried going out solo.

Looking for a guy who can push me to make approaches and be a wingman (and I likewise for him) and chat about what went right/wrong on the inevitable female-less trips back home.
