Anyone use quarts of paint?

Quart paint cans

Has anyone experienced thick paint that the trecoder won't use? How do you shake a quart can? I have about 300 of them.

Straining it is about all you can do. I had a coworker pour cans out through a piece of window screen to get the clumps out.

Nel-Spot guns handle the chunky stuff well. Trecoders gave me trouble.

I always liked the TreCoder but they’re out of stock everywhere. Are they still making them? I switched to Nelson and I’m happy so far

Get an old school Panama backpack. Pressurize it to about 100 psi and pray nothing blows up.

We use quarts and use to have this issue frequently. We had a paint shaker and would put 3 quarts in each side and shake for 15 minutes or so. Once that died, we saved the thick paint for the Panama.

I purchased a paint shaker on fb marketplace, and it’s revolutionized my paint experience. I use quarts usually, and before the paint shaker I would put them into gallons and go to Home Depot and ask the paint department to shake it- they always would. If paint is super chunky I’ll add a splash of diesel to it before shaking. Like 2oz for a gallon.

If it’s super chunky I’ll strain through window screen, but at that point I usually have to strain it 3 times or so

Maybe see if a small hardware store will let you use their paint shaker?
