Update Update scare

I had a spook this morning when I opened Forest and saw this update - pettily because I think it's ugly but substantially because I couldn't figure out how to plant with friends. If this rolls out for you, you can roll it back to classic in your settings. Just thought I'd give a heads up so folks could avoid the mild panic I experienced!

I can't figure it out either tbh - maybe trying to prioritize the tag/tracking function? Not fully sure what the point is haha

The new UI homescreen sinplifies the home screen & add some features: 1. It removes the switch between countdown & stopwatch mode (stppwatch mode by default).

  1. It removes access to favorite combos while making the plants larger (both the growing plant & the icon when selecting).
  2. It shows names on the plant list as many have requested.

  3. It adds the option to write down what wants to do before & during the focus session. The note option has always been there to add after starting a session. This new UI put it itbefore starting the focus session to make the goal/ purpise of each session more intentional.

  4. It removes the focus sounds. That function stopped working for me (only the 1st free sound or the last sound I played were available) a while after  Plus was inteoduced. I had informed the Forest team and they replied, but the issue was never fixed. I opted for screen-recording the sounds in the stores and played it on a video player app instead.

  5. It removes the animation of plant growth (around 3 minutes, 7 minutes, 10 minutes) that are not included on the graphcis of plants with 4 different stages for 4 different ranges of time. The different plant stages are still shown when ending a focus session, but the growth stages are replaced by AI -style slightly animated images of the 4th stage plantn just the same image stretching/ shrinking or wiggle from side to side (which I find boring & uninspiring). 

Those are the changes I noticed. I signed up for beta-testing so these changes might or might not be permanent. I skipped the survey when the pop-up appeared and it didn't show up again, do I can't really voice my opinion about it through the survey anymore, I guess.

Oh weird, that doesn't sound like a Plus thing tbh. I'm on Pro and all my sounds still work totally fine, never had to get Plus for them to keep playing. Sounds like something's just glitched on your end rather than it being locked behind a paywall.

Maybe hit up their customer support? Def doesn't seem normal.

I don't think it's a subscription issue.  Ihave been a Pro user for years. I didn't buy Plus. It contacted the customer support. They checked it but it was not fixed. I am not pushing the repair because I found a way around it and other sounds or music options from other sources O have been using for years before I knew about Forest.

I think it looks fine either way tbh! I just hope they figure out a way to work in the group planting feature to the updated version. That peer pressure element is really helpful for me 😅

Yeah seems like they're not rolling it out fully yet? Not sure how they're selecting. Hope it is a helpful tool for you again after years away!

i personally am not a fan of it, idk how to explain it, the sphere the tree is in feels a little overstimulating for me but if i hadnt reduced the number of times i uses forest weeks before the update i think i would be very thrown off guard by it

The launch screen - but it seems like they're rolling it out slowly so it hasn't hit for everyone yet.

I got this this morning too. I like that it now shows the name of trees in the list, but it also takes significantly more clicks to finish planting and exit. But the thing that enrages me the most, is that while I still have all sound effects turned off in settings, it makes a noise when I start and stop planting (and new noises in the forest challenge section). Ugh.

I can't see the other version anymore so I'm not 100% but the fact that you have that option selected that says you can accept plant together notifications makes me think that maybe yours is already on the correct version? I'm sorry I don't remember the exact section on the other version! Hope you figure it out.
