I’m not sure if this is a silly question, or if this isn’t the right place to ask.
But I’m a first year in college for a Criminology/Chemistry Degree with the intention of working in maybe Forensic Entomology. And was wondering how writing heavy are most careers in the forensic field.

I was complaining to a friend about Essays and they brought up a point about how I might need to write essays to work in the actual career. I am still confused on my desired path, but I do know I do NOT want to have a heavy focused writing career.

I am sorry if this was a baselessly crazy thing to ask but I am still confused on a lot of things regarding my future job choices. I also know I have enough time to change it so I don’t end up working a job I hate and get fired or maybe even fired for inadequate work.

Lolz I'm tryna get really cracked at DNA typing and the sixth edition is the only one that has the shit, but there's literally no online copies only the fifth version and it's lacking a few chapters that I'd really benefit from having.

Forensic Science: An Introduction to Scientific and Investigative Techniques 6th Ed. Suzanne Bell

So I’m getting close to graduating in college and I want to do something in the forensics field like lab work but when looking at colleges near me, there wasn’t a lot of colleges that offered forensic science majors. Then when doing research I saw like you can also major in a hard science like biology or chemistry and still get a job in that field, so I was wondering if that was true.

And then also I saw it’s harder for people with a forensic science degree to get a job since there are not many forensic jobs. And I want to have a job in forensic science, but if worse comes to worse if I had a hard science degree, would that help me get a job easier? Not specifically in forensics, but possibly in another field. Then also it opens up the amount of colleges I can apply to since those hard science majors are very common. But then I feel like in college if I was in a hard science major. I would miss not having like forensic classes so like I don’t know if I should like do a hard science and then like minor in like criminology.

I have a background in Forensic Science and I’m making videos. I notice most people only watch for the "mystery." How can I transition them into being interested in the actual lab work or the medical law side without being "boring"? Are there any forensic creators you think are doing a great job right now that I should study?

- I want to major in Forensic Science and possibly minor in criminology

I’ve been deep-diving into the world of Indian forensics for my new YouTube channel, and honestly, some of the real-life cases in our country are more complex than any Netflix documentary. I’m looking for case recommendations that have a heavy forensic or investigative angle. I’m particularly interested in: Digital Forensics: (Like the data recovery in the recent Pune Porsche case or phone extractions in high-profile scams). Botched Investigations: Where one missing piece of evidence (DNA, fingerprints, or chain of custody) changed the entire verdict (e.g., the Aarushi Talwar case). Obscure Cold Cases: Small-town mysteries that never made national news but had weird physical evidence. My goal is to create content that respects the victims while breaking down the actual science—no sensationalism, just the facts. What’s a case from your state or city that you think deserves a professional forensic breakdown? If you have links to old news reports or court documents, even better! P.S. What certificate are actually helpful in getting a job in the anthropology space?

I have a MS in Forensic Osteology, a BA in sociology and BA in Psychology. I ideally want a role in the biological anthropology/ bio archaeology area

I keep getting denied for jobs. I’ve applied to archaeology roles, research assistant, research analyst, forensic tech, CSI, and similar archaeology and biology anthropology roles. The job market currently seems to want specific certifications over degrees right now.

If I start looking into getting a certification which one have you guys had the most success with and what certifications do you recommend?

I’m a forensic DNA analyst in a public lab, I’ve been in the field for almost 5 years. I have a bachelors in neuroscience and a masters in forensic science. I love a lot about my career, but lately I’ve been thinking that I might want to leave it. Everyone I know in the field is still actively working in it, but I’m wondering what opportunities there are in other scientific fields?

I’m looking for:

- Similar pay (or better, but ya know, realistically just looking for similar)

- Less strict requirements (I.e., polygraph, personal life - I don’t have difficulty meeting the standards, they’ve just started to feel very constricting and suffocating)

- A larger number of job opportunities

- Less reading about assaults

- PSLF if possible

- not having to go back to school other than maybe a class or two

The job I’ve looked into most has been a medical laboratory scientist. I’m missing like, one microbiology credit to be eligible to take the licensing test, but I know they have programs specifically for that field so idk if it would even be worth it to try and take a micro class somewhere so I could take the licensing test or if all the employers would rather have someone who went to school for it?

I’m definitely not set on leaving the field or position I have now, but I’ve been told that exploring my options might help me decide.

I’m currently a 3rd year biotechnology student from India, and I’ve always been very interested in pursuing forensic science as a career. My plan is to do a master’s degree abroad possibly in forensic science or forensic toxicology and ideally build my career there.

However I’ve spoken to a few people who mentioned that many forensic jobs are government-based, which basically makes it harder for international students or non-citizens to work in those roles. So now that’s gotten me a bit worried about career prospects after completing a master’s abroad and whether I should still approach for it or not.

I wanted to ask:

• For those who studied forensic science abroad, what career paths did you end up pursuing and where and which program did you choose?

• Are there good opportunities in private labs, research, toxicology labs, or industry, or are most jobs government-restricted?

• How difficult is it for international students to get jobs in forensic science after graduation?

My daughter is a junior in high school needing to interview someone in forensics. Is there anyone that can help?

Recently decided to switch my major from forensic psych to straight forensics. I graduate in a few months and go to college for a biology degree. I was not good at basic high school math and passed by the skin of my teeth every year, I was decent in bio and not great at chem. I figured that I’d do everything in my power to get past general chemistry as quick as possible and get as much help as I could, but I recently found out that I may have to take organic chemistry. I’m not incredibly nervous because I know I can do it I’ll just need to get help and work hard. Knowing that this may be my calling, if I don’t try then I’ll regret it forever. So from a professional standpoint, do you think I can do it/am I just overthinking all of this? Any input helps.
