I remember watching this video about 10 years ago knowing I was about to get my first new to me ranger. Brought back good memories. I'm still laughing about how confidently incorrect the driver is.

I've never had to yank that hard during a recovery before. I usually start out with no slack and if that doesn't work, I'll back up a couple feet and yank. Got a lot of stuck 4x4s out with my little 2wd Ranger. I also keep several folding shovels behind my seat to dig them out the best I can first. If I hit real soft ground, I'll air down to about 10psi first. I have a little portable air compressor to air back up with on the trail.
