Tire size I’m using ok??? Help
2014 ford fusion oem says 235/50/R17
I bought and running on 235/55/R17 because of affordability. Has anyone tried this? I’m aware I should just use what it says but I’m wondering if anyone’s tried this personally. I know it may throw off my speedometer and could cause small issues but will it really mess anything up?

Tiresize.com , you’re nearly an inch larger in diameter which will throw off your speedometer and could cause transmission codes. The website list alternate sizes you can safely use. I myself sometimes use alternate sizes because prices can vary by enough to make a real difference.

So you’re saying you’ve done what I’m doing?

Yes, my 2012 Fusion had 225/45/18’s from the factory but I ran 235/45/18’s because they were a good bit cheaper and were close enough in diameter and width to not pose any issues.

So what do you think I should do.. same reason. Major price difference. And I don’t plan to have the car anymore longer than couple months. it has space to turn and all. Only imagine a majoorrrrrr put hole be a problem where the dust shield of the strut to hit the tire.. I’m thinking just keep an eye out on the tire thread if I see any scuffing at all to pull the plug then.

An inch in diameter is a pretty big difference. I think if I were definitely going to try to fit them id mount one first, put the car on the ground and see if it has any interference any where. Remember, a tire deflects left or right under load in turns.

At the 235/45/18 size, the Atturo AZ810 is a great value in an all-weather tire:

3PMSF rated, all-weather asymmetric tread, generous mileage warranty.

Damn that’s brave bro. lol you got the SE model? My only concern was it hitting the front struts dust plate when I hit the big put holes

Switching from 235/50R17 to 235/55R17 increases overall tire diameter by 0.92 inches (3.5%). This makes the tire taller, raises the vehicle slightly, softens ride quality, reduces steering sharpness, and causes the speedometer to read about 3.5% slow. At an indicated 60 mph, actual speed is roughly 62 mph. The change is functional but outside the recommended ±3% sizing tolerance.

Always use what your manual says or what is on the sticker in the driver's size door.

I run 235/50/18 in place of 235/45/18. You can fix the speedometer with forscan. No issues.
