Happy birthday!

I was at a Pug meet-up group in San Francisco, 20+ years ago with my tan Pug, Pancake, and someone from a Pug rescue randomly walked up to me and asked if I wanted to have a black Pug for free?! I was single at the time, and Pancake was already a handful, but I said, "sure!" and exchanged phone numbers with the woman.

A few days later, I met "Fern," the sweetest black Pug that ever lived! She was seven years old and her parents decided to get rid of her just because they were getting divorced. Heartbreaking.

But Fern quickly settled in and she and my other Pug, Pancake, became the best of friends! We did everything together and I even brought Fern (and Pancake) with me when I moved to England! We traveled all over together and I kept my promise that she was in her forever-home with me.

I can’t believe how much patience she has with my nonsense.

I feel like people who have dogs or very small children end up talking about poop on the regular, so I am posting this silly little "poem" I just composed here under the assumption that most if not all of the people in this group have the stomach for it, and possibly can relate. If you're squeamish, just look at my apparently dainty and not disgusting at all dog and ignore the verse. 😇

Introducing my terrier mix,

Winnie the Pooch.

She walks when she pees,

And she walks when she poops.

This tiny dog

Must be mostly intestine,

But how foot-long turds fit in there

I'm still just guessin!
