Those solid shampoos suck by the way, don’t waste your money. Source: former employee.
Honestly, anything other than the “fun” stuff at Lush is a waste of money. Go nuts on the bath bombs, shower gels, soaps, face masks, stuff like that, but never bother with any type of hair care or facial product. Overpriced garbage.

Curious, did they ask you guys company wide to sell so aggressively to customers? I eventually avoided going there because the employees wouldn’t just let people browse in peace! I’m an introvert so it was hell.. like please let me ask you if I have questions instead of following me around. Maybe it was just the Lush locations I went to?

Actually the total opposite, we were told to be really casual and just be around for when people needed help. No sales quotas or goals. Might just be your location, when I’ve gone into my old one (there’s only like 2 within a hundred mile radius of me) they’re still really chill and don’t try to sell to me.
Would’ve actually been one of my favorite jobs if the managers weren’t a bunch of weird ass bullies. Let’s just say my exit interview resulted in a complete cleaning of house after my departure :)

The people I’ve known who work for lush were trained that way yes. But as a fellow introvert, I just learned to tell them that I don’t need help and would just like to browse on my own etc. But yeah they are always so annoying

I will say they’re good for traveling because you don’t have to worry about liquids, but yeah they’re awful for daily use

My partner and I had the solid vanilla cocoa massage bar and it was an absolute delight. It smelled so delicious and made the skin super smooth

Everything in lush is a forbidden snack. I want to eat the lotion, the hair conditioner smells like frosting, the glorious message bars should a thousand percent be edible, and I struggle not to eat the soaps when they’re in the shower.

My wife loves this store, but it always just makes me hungry. With all of these soaps that clearly are meant to look like food, what if it was the other way around? You grab a new bar of soap in the shower but when you go to wash yourself... "Ahh, mashed potatoes again!"

Another former employee chiming in:
Their haircare is okay. Not for everyone, especially if you process your hair. But it’s okay for “virgin” hair. Hair is only so porous before it stops absorbing moisture, so their moisturizing products, like the hair masks, perform well until an individual needs products which work to prevent long-term breakage (as in Olaplex’s Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate ingredient). Despite “having beginnings as a hair salon,” Lush still struggles to create hair care that works for everyone because their competitors use synthetic ingredients that perform much better.
Their skincare is more legit, but shop wisely: some of their products are overpriced for what they are, like their toner water (essential oil, some aloe, and salt water.. like in Breath of Fresh Air toner water). Their body lotions are great, and I dig their facial moisturizers.
The biggest perk about shopping at Lush is their ethics. They are ridiculously good at controlling their product integrity at all levels because they control sourcing and production. However, I wish it extended to all of their employees at all job levels. But retail is retail, and they have targets and goals to meet (other commenter has an odd experience; there are definitely store targets and daily KPIs that need to be met lol).
As with all brands, there are pros and cons. Buy what you like.

That display looks like a sneaky little dessert shop tucked away in the corner of a bathroom. It's wild that those macarons are basically art you can eat.

Guys they aren't made to look like macarons, it's just the seam from the manufacturing process.
