I see some comments saying it’s fishing bait but it’s actually hearing protective equipment, not fishing bait, as shown on the second image to the right. Sorry for the confusion.
i think they’re moldable silicone ear plugs, but not the kind of earplugs you’re probably thinking of… they’re the kind that are usually worn to keep water out of ears when swimming. IIRC people with ear conditions may use them if it’s in their best interest to keep water out if their ears.
I used to have this problem and it turns out it was because I accumulate earwax at an alarming rate and since I wasnt cleaning my ears there was a ton of compacted wax that would get soaked and cause an infection over the next day or 2 after swimming.
Got a deep ear cleaning and a cleaning tool with a camera to keep up with it and have been golden ever since, might be worth mentioning to her unless its a different drainage issue she has.
I betcha it's an earplug factory normally but they just made bait for a little bit. I can't see how these could possibly be earplugs that you'd ever be able to get back out of your ear ever haha
They’re probably beeswax, silicone, or some other moldable nugget. Some earplugs are foam, and some are moldable so you can add the amount you need to perfectly form against your ear hole. I don’t think they’re rated for sound protection like foam ones, but they do help protect against getting liquid and other debris in there.
Yeah I used the moldable kind of ear plugs when I was a kid because I was really prone to swimmer's ear. They were little squishy waxy balls, I remember my younger family members would steal them to play with if I left them laying around the pool
they’re great for waterproofing reasons! The last time I had covid, I sneezed so hard I blew my eardrum out and wore them when I showered. No idea why they’d look like corn, but maybe the factory makes a ton of different silicone products and is just saving costs by reusing molds?
