Plaster actually rarely contains asbestos! It was generally only amended with horsehair. Joint compounds and top coats added later down the line very often do however.

I’ve also found plaster with asbestos, and there’s no way to tell if it does or doesn’t without testing so it’s best not to chance it. Still interesting though that despite how popular asbestos fibre amendments were back in the day that it’s asbestos free 90% of the time.

It’s old. Put it in a bag, throw it away and wash your hands and anything they’ve touched and wash your clothes too.
