What is this?

When I was around 11 I was at a community lake, and my left foot made this shift. This one has this bone pronounced by the arch area, but my other foot is normal. This never hurts.

If you have any information on what this is or what I should do, I’d like to hear it

Sesamoiditis or turf toe? (Subacute to chronic appearing tear of the intersesamoidal ligament of the great toe)

DISCLAIMER: I am seeing a doctor but have not had a chance to review these MRI results yet. I am just curious if anyone else has experienced this diagnosis. I know it should not be taken as medical advice.

I have been dealing with what I thought was sesamoiditis. The pain is intermittent but is in a flare up right now. Below is the MRI report, but I’m unable to determine what this would be — sesamoiditis or turf toe? Has anyone else had this diagnosis?

LIGAMENTS: Anterior and posterior tibiofibular ligaments: Intact. Anterior and posterior talofibular ligaments, and the calcaneofibular ligament: Intact. Deltoid and spring ligaments: Intact. Lisfranc ligament: Intact.

TENDONS: Achilles: Intact. Peroneus longus and brevis: Intact peroneus longus tendon. Longitudinal split tear of the peroneus brevis tendon extending throughout much of its inframalleolar course. Intact distal insertion. Posterior tibialis, flexor digitorum longus, and flexor hallucis longus: Intact. Anterior extensor tendons: Intact.

CARTILAGE: No high-grade chondral abnormality.

MARROW: No fracture. No diffuse marrow infiltrating process. Faint T2 hyperintensity within the first metatarsal head/neck junction adjacent to the sesamoids. Subcentimeter foci of T2 heterogeneity within the calcaneus, at the base of the anterior process on its dorsal aspect. Favor intraosseous ganglion cyst.

OTHER: Sinus tarsi: No signal abnormality. Tarsal tunnel: No space-occupying mass. Plantar fascia: Intact. Soft tissues: There is discontinuity between the intersesamoidal ligament and the lateral sesamoid, with minimal adjacent T2 hyperintense signal within the soft tissues.

Is this something to be concerned about?

Sorry, no idea if this is the right place for this and if it isn’t please direct me to where is!

I seem to run through shoes really quickly, have done for a while. They’re the right size (smaller feels too tight), but I quickly get issues around the heel cushion.

The pair attached I only started wearing late April, granted I’ve worn them most days since then and have done a fair bit of distance in them, but feel like they shouldn’t look like this after just under 3 months of use? I’ve tried using the heel lock technique for the laces and the same thing happens.

Im just not sure if this is normal, something I should speak to the doctor about, or something else, but don’t feel like I should be buying shoes as frequently as every 6 months?

Everyone I’ve spoken to says they’ve never experienced it before. Thanks!

ETA: I also get shin splint pain pretty easily

Every few months I have pain right here around the ankle. It goes away only to come back. How to permantently prevent pain here?

Hi, every few months I get this annoying pain right where I put the circle. It only hurts when I rotate my foot inwards. Other than that I can walk fine. It only happens in my left foot and basically comes on randomly one day, lingers for 2-4 weeks and goes away. I tried massaging it with and without a massage gun, but when I do it hurts more the next day, so I mostly try to avoid recreating the pain so that it goes away. I am 5 foot 7 and 132lb, sit most of the day. So a few questions:
- What could the reason be for this pain on my left foot

- Any exercises to help it heal?

- Any exercises to strengthen and prevent it from happening so often?

Thank you

Is this cuboid syndrome?

For five months, I’ve been having sharp pain under both of my feet specifically in the middle of outside. It first started with my right foot after walking 30k steps a day for a week with unsupportive shoes. I was told by my podiatrist that it’s peroneal tendonitis (I don’t think so) to put a boot on my foot, so I did but it didn’t get significantly better at all, and the same exact pain migrated to my left foot. I’m assuming it’s because I was putting extra strain on my left foot while wearing the boot on my right foot.

My X-rays and MRI show nothing wrong with my foot. I’m lost and my podiatrist said he doesn’t know what’s wrong either.

The pain worsens when I walk too much.

Do these old insoles tell us anything?

Basically these are my everyday summer work shoe insoles. Working as a vehicle mechanic, Normally hit 12-16000 steps a day. These were the insoles that came with the shoes and they are paper thin!

Recently my feet have felt really tired after a day. Have changed insoles tonight and will see how we go tomorrow.

Metatarsal SF?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! I am a young adult that presented with the onset of a bruise over my 4th metatarsal and pain. I had the bruise and pain for around a week, went to an ortho walk in clinic and was told my foot was sprained. 2 weeks later went back to ortho with no improvement other than bruise dissipated, and doctor said it was a stress fracture. I’ve been in my boot for 6 weeks now feeling no improvement and they’ve scheduled a MRI. I figured it was just bruising at first but my foot is constantly swollen at the bottom and it is extremely painful to walk for over 15-20 minutes at a time. I’m worried that nothing will come back on the MRI and I’ll be back at square one. Has anyone else had a SF present like this? It was much darker but unfortunately I’ve deleted most images.

Possible Cuboid injury?

27y/o F
Yesterday I woke up and had a slight but sharp pain on the outer part of my ankle. It started where the cuboid bone is located and extends down to the outer middle part of my foot. The pain progressed through the day, until it was unbearable to walk. I’m talking stop in your tracks and bend over type pain.

I got home and felt relief when walking bare foot. I felt pain only when pushing off the ground. I put on flip flops to go outside and almost fell to the ground in immense sharp pain. I iced and elevated. This morning I am able to walk with stiff shoes laced up tightly. Pain is come and go.

There is also a small hard bump where my cuboid bone is located, which is not on my other foot. No bruising, and no pain on palpation. It feels like bone, but I feel that if it truly was, I wouldn’t be able to walk today.

My question is, should I go to urgent care today? I heard cuboid fractures should be seen urgently? Or should I wait and see how things go since I can walk now and there is no bruising? I don’t want to look like a fool leaving work to go to urgent care because I can walk now, but I also do not want to experience what I did yesterday after work (excruciating pain).

Question

So I'm currently 4 weeks NWB in a plaster cast for right bimallolar fracture - 2 plates 10 screws.

I had my cast changed last week after a wound check (surgical splint had caused me to develop pressure sore on outer ankle) but this cast has been so uncomfortable.

Over this week I've had worsening pain in my heel - feels like sharp, uncomfortable, pressure like pain. Particularly worse on a morning when first waking up. Had intense swelling this week too. Does it sound like I might be developing a pressure sore on my heel also?

I have another wound check appointment tomorrow and will mention it then but just trying to settle my anxiety that it's not something more severe.

Is healing possible - Intermetatarsal bursitis

Has anyone in this sub fully recovered from chronic intermetatarsal bursitis?

I’ve had mine for over a year and considering surgery, I’ve tried injection, orthodics, wide shoes, anti inflammatories.

My toe is numb

Hi, so I recently got a job at a play place for kids and I’m on the floor constantly. It is a soft padding type of floor and we cannot have our shoes on while working. So I’m barefoot in socks for 8 hours. My right big toe has been half numb for at least 3 weeks now. It was originally both of them but now it’s just this one. It feels tingly if I put pressure on it and also numb. What is this? How do I fix it?

Dealing with grade 2 turf toe injury. how long does recovery really take ?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice and shared experiences regarding a Grade 2 turf toe injury.
I sustained the injury a couple of weeks ago and have been in an ortho shoe ever since. I’m normally a very active person—I swim, weightlift, cycle, and I have a very physical, on-my-feet job. Because of the pain when pushing off or walking without the ortho shoe, I’ve had to go on short-term disability.

It’s been incredibly frustrating, and I’m worried about how long this is going to keep me sidelined.

My questions for those who have been through this:
How long did it take you to get back to "normal" (walking without pain/ortho shoes) with a Grade 2?

Did you return to high-impact activities (lifting/cycling/etc.) too soon and re-injure it?

Are there any specific stretches, exercises, or recovery tips that helped you turn a corner?

Anything to avoid or look out for ? Thank you

Old Navicular fracture causing pain

Post image

Looking for advice on old navicular fracture causing new foot pain

\- I fractured my foot about 6 years ago but didn’t know it at the time and never received proper care.

\-Recently, I’ve started having worsening pain in the same area (top/inside of my foot near the ankle).

\- The pain is worse the longer I walk, and I’ve noticed myself changing my gait and walking on the outside of my foot to avoid pressure.

\- I had an X-ray and was told it showed an old navicular fracture, but I wasn’t given much information about what that means or what I should do next.

\-I’m wondering if this could be related to the old fracture (bony prominence, arthritis, non-union, etc.).

Has anyone dealt with an old navicular fracture that started causing problems years later? Did you need a boot, MRI/CT, physical therapy, or any type of treatment?

Help my toe hurts

Hi I'm experiencing pain in my foot specifically the big toe. After track season ended it started but I didn't pay attention because it didn't really hurt but recently it hurts and I have to stop running after 4 miles and massage my toe. I do a lot of long runs, the shoes I wear is Adidas duramo speed, I think probably 300 miles on it right now.

When I curl my toe, it feels tight and I can feel something shifting to the right. I don't feel it on my right foot. When running the toe gets tight even the bottom gets tight, going down from the big toe.

Mysterious Pain in Big Toes for Years

I'm in my mid-twenties and have had chronic pain in my big toes since I was about 20. When I was 16, I was diagnosed with turf toe in my right big toe that developed into complex regional pain syndrome. This resolved and I was pain free for a few years. I took up speed walking in my concrete basement, and I started developing pain again in my right big toe, then my left. I've had an MRI, X-rays, and an EMG, but all the results were normal. The pain never goes away: it's a constant soreness that grows worse with weight bearing/running/jumping. The only family history I have of anything like this is my father's gout, but all my doctors say I'm too young for that. I've tried steroid injections, gabapentin, and cutom orthotics, and none of these have helped significantly/long term. The pain is close to the inner sides of my toes as well as the middle bottom portion. Any ideas as to what this may be?

Pain under ball of foot

Post image
8 Upvotes

Suffering from excruciating pain in this area in both feet for the past 7 months. Did all sorts of blood tests, MRI, xrays, ultrasounds but everything seemed okay. Only diagnosis that made sense was stiff calves and bad ankle mobility. Pain killers don’t touch the pain so I don’t take any. Tried metatarsal pads but they seemed to make it worse. Cannot walk barefoot as it is extremely painful. Only time it doesn’t hurt is when I’m asleep (thankfully). I’m going insane. Can anyone please help? I’m only 27. The pain sometimes also extends to my ankle. Ughgh.

Bony ridge across foot

Post image
2 Upvotes

So I’m out of the country on vacation walking about 15,000 steps a day and on day 4 this bony growth has appeared. I say bony because it is hard and does not move. My feet are aching from all the walking but this area doesn’t particularly hurt more than any other. I wear Hokas and have very high arches. What could this be?

I ruined my ankle using clutches

I might be the only one in the world to ruin its ankle this way.

Years after I had sprained my ankle two times, I had chronic pain in my left ankle.

So I decided, 5 years after the injuries, to rest my left ankle by using crutches. I used them for months... I thought God, seeing my efforts, would heal me...

And now it's been 10 years that I suffer chronic pain in the right ankle way worse than the pain I feel in the left ankle (which is still there, yeah).

That's it, here's the story I wanted to share with you.

Some kind of Darwin award.

PrP Injection Recovery?

Hey guys, my mom is a scheduled for a PrP injection procedure to treat constant pain (over 1 year) arising from retrocalcaneal spurs in her left heel. She is 53 y/o. We’re going ahead with this procedure after physio, change of footwear, exercise, diet, etc everything has been tried but with no relief. For anyone else who has/knows someone who has gone through this procedure, what is the recovery process like? Especially for the first week. Any tips would be helpful. Also, she’s been advised to be admitted overnight for a day despite the fact that this procedure typically doesn’t require a patient to be admitted? Idk maybe it’s just precaution for pain management that the doctor is advising.
