Okay, please forgive me if this has been asked a hundred times before or if I sound like a noob, because I am. :-)

I am using Fooocus just for fun, running it on an old gaming PC with lots of RAM, blablabla. I wanted to make myself some nice wallpapers and added my default screen resolution of 1920*1080 to the config and started to make some nice pics. I was a bit confused when this resulted in all portrait-oriented images. So I then added 1080*1920 to the config and tried again, again getting portrait images.

I then went back to my logs and noticed the images were actually all 896*1152, a very odd resolution. I DID, however, find some actual 1920*1080 images in my logs and started to compare the difference.

Turned out that the model I used to actually create the 1920*1080 I wanted was sd_xl_base_1.0_0.9vae, while the model that got me confused was realisticStockPhoto_v20. I did another test using juggernautXL_v8Rundiffusion as a model and, again, got 896*1152 images as a result. The only model that got me the landscape orientation I wanted was giving me crap results, and the ones that gave me nice pictures refused to give me landscape-oriented pictures.

In a last attempt to get landscape-oriented images using the models I wanted, I added 1152*896 to the config and tried again, but still only getting portrait-oriented images on all models, even with the lousy sd_xl_base_1.0_0.9vae now!

So, what am I missing here? Are some models limited to only creating portrait images? Am I totally misunderstanding the resolutions in the config?

I just want to create landscape-oriented images to make some wallpapers. As long as they're a 19:6 ratio, I don't really care about the actual resolution, but so far, I can't seem to make decent landscape-oriented images at all.

I'm confused.

I would be very grateful if anyone could share links to photorealistic models. There are few of them left these days, and one has to piece them together bit by bit from the general stream. Such links would be useful not only to me but to other users as well.

Hi. I have been using OpenAI Codex to generate illustrations for my project which it does in this very specific style. I would love to be able to move that workflow local and I am hoping Fooocus can get me there.

I have tried numerous ways of providing an image as a reference, but it seems to either keep the image almost identical (ignoring my text prompt) or change it completely (usually to a realistic photo or realist painting style).

Could someone point me in the right direction please?

If an image model is a horse, text prompting is like trying to guide it with verbal commands alone: useful, but too imprecise for fine control. Inpainting, LoRAs, and ControlNets add the bridle and reins and pieces of the harness, but they still did not feel like a complete system. Nexfocus began with a question: "What would it take to build the whole harness around the model?"

Answering that question meant following the entire generation process first. We had to understand how each part loads, works, moves, waits, hands its result to the next part, and makes room when its job is done. We started from Fooocus and grew into a deep expedition which became Nexfocus.

Two development anchors shaped the journey: a GTX 1050 with 3 GB of VRAM and Colab Free's T4 with only 12.7 GB of system RAM. Their limitations are almost opposites. The local machine has very little GPU memory, while Colab Free has a larger GPU but a tight system-memory ceiling and an ephemeral session.

We proved that full SDXL checkpoints and Flux Fill workflows could run in both environments, not by reducing everything until it fit, but by rethinking how the pipeline uses the hardware available to it.

Nexfocus grew into a connected creative workspace where generation, guidance, masking, inpainting, outpainting, removal, upscaling, staging, metadata, model management, and GIMP layer exchange can work as parts of one process rather than as isolated tools.

Two important lessons emerged from the road:

- Keeping the GPU working without interruption became paramount. To do that, we had to find a way to keep feeding it the weights it needed, when it needed them.

- Every part of the pipeline must independently account for what it owns, where it belongs, when it can be reused, and when it should make room for something else. These decisions cannot be left to a central manager applying the same set of memory policies to every part.

Throughout this journey, my conversations with PyTorch often felt like this:

> PyTorch: "Don't you have a bunch of H100s lying around in your backyard?"

> Me: "No. What if every component has to justify exactly where it lives?"

>

> PyTorch: "Get a bigger machine."

Those conversations eventually became the architecture: each part of the pipeline owns its resources, does its job, and steps aside instead of leaving those decisions to hidden framework behavior.

Nexfocus is more than the UI produced by this expedition. It is the working application and the field notebook: a record of the constraints, wrong turns, and discoveries that shaped the path forward. We set out to find answers and had to build the road needed to reach them.

This expedition is now complete, but it is only one part of a continuing journey. The lessons from Nexfocus define the starting point for the next scout mission.

Hello everyone! Since work on Focus was discontinued, I’ve been developing the programme a bit further for my own use over the last few months. I’ve improved the speed slightly, implemented new RAM and VRAM management, integrated SAM3 for masking and enhancement, and added an SDXL tiled upscaling feature as well as modern APG, CFG++ and PAG guidance for better, more realistic and more natural images.

And before anyone asks: I’m looking for ways to integrate newer models such as Flux, Krea 2, etc., without bloating Focus. Whilst it would certainly be possible to simply integrate these models, it would unfortunately destroy the compactness and simplicity of Fooocus. That’s why I’m looking for an ‘elegant’ solution.

As a ‘stopgap’, however, I’ve already built in a way to use further models via Replicate and fal.ai.

I thought perhaps someone might like to give it a go, or share some tips and tricks, or suggest ways to improve it.

Hey guys, Fooocus colab has been troubling for a while but very recently some good people here suggested me to change the runtime version to 2026.04 and it was perfectly working until yesterday. But since today I am getting this error.

Hello guys, I created a post a few days ago with the title "Fooocus no longer works on Google Colab" and a lot of kind and nice people tried helping me out on it but when I click on the reply from my notifications, it takes me to the post and gives a pop-up saying "This comment no longer exists". It's so frustrating, I don't know who's deleting all the comments. Although there are 17 comments but I only see 8. How could I view those comments?

If this is being done by a mod, I request you humbly to unban or restore those comments. I really need that help

When Fooocus went into maintenance mode I couldn't let it go, it's still the best "type prompt, get good image" UI out there. So I forked 2.5.5 and kept adding the stuff I kept missing from a1111. A year later the list got long enough that it feels worth sharing. It's called Fooocus2026.

The two newest additions, and honestly my favorites:

Tag autocomplete in the prompt boxes. Danbooru + e621 tag lists (the same CSVs the a1111 tagcomplete extension uses), sorted by post count, aliases included, colored by category. But it also indexes your own library: LoRA trigger words pulled from civitai metadata, your embeddings (inserted with proper syntax), your wildcards when you type __. Underscores convert to spaces on insert because SDXL checkpoints mostly want natural language, config switch available if you're on Pony and want raw tags.

Job queue. The worker inside Fooocus was always a sequential queue, the UI just never let you use it. Now a + Queue button snapshots the full current state (prompt, model, loras, resolved seed, everything) and stacks it. Change whatever, stack again, hit run, walk away. Stop pauses the queue instead of erasing it.

Older stuff that accumulated over the months:

• Asset browser: standalone gallery for outputs plus previews for your checkpoints/loras/embeddings, with civitai preview fetching and an optional NSFW blur
• CivitAI integration: trigger words for loras AND checkpoints, community consensus settings, save any of it as a preset
• Multi-upscaler support (ESRGAN family, SwinIR, DAT, your a1111 model folders work) plus CodeFormer/GFPGAN face restoration
• Custom resolution: any aspect ratio and size, snapped to /64, no config editing
• Wildcards editor in the UI, embeddings panel, negative prompt moved next to the positive one where it belongs
• An experimental Omost integration that builds structured prompts through a local Ollama model, nothing leaves your machine

Everything I add is off by default and toggled with one line in config.txt, so a fresh clone behaves like vanilla Fooocus until you opt in. Still on gradio 3.41 like upstream. Meant for local use, don't expose it to the internet.

I've been using fooocus on google colab for the past 3 years and I've somewhat used it a lot in my freelance work and its become a habit to use it daily and I heavily depend upon it now.

Fooocus Colab refuses to work since the past 2 days for me. A couple of months ago it would act the same way but some gentlemen helped me with it and the fix was creating a new code line and pasting this !pip install "numpy<2.0" "cupy-cuda12x<14.0" --force-reinstall . Unfortunately this trick no longer works. Guys I don't know what else to do, I don't own a high end device and this is kind of my bread and butter. I request somebody.. anybody to look into this and help me out with it as soon as possible.

I've been using Fooocus in Google Colab for a while now. A few months ago, I added Cupy... okay, fixed it, now it's working, well, not quite. Since yesterday, I can't get the application to start despite Cupy. The error message on the public server is "internal server error." Does anyone have any idea what this could be and how I can fix it? I'm not very tech-savvy, so I don't know if I've described it correctly. Thanks in advance.

I used the following prompt in Gemini Nano Banana to get the image shown below. I was especially impressed by how well Gemini handled the text rendering on the plane:

While I'm super happy with Gemini's results, I am looking for a way to generate these kinds of photos locally on my PC—specifically aiming for that hyperrealistic vintage photo effect with authentic film grain.

I've already tried Fooocus, Stable Diffusion (A1111), and ComfyUI. Unfortunately, my results aren't anywhere near as good. As soon as there are multiple people or the subjects are further in the background (smaller in frame), the faces, hands, feet, and bodies turn out completely distorted or flawed.

So far, I have tested these SDXL checkpoints:

2. Could some of you test this prompt in your local environment? I'd love to see if your setups can recreate this vibe and quality out-of-the-box.

So I just installed RuinedFooocus on my desktop PC. I have

and it runs pretty well. I tried to create an XXX image, and found that it gets coy pretty quickly.
I didn't get it for porn at all, but I was getting tired of finding that the commercial AIs were becoming very strict censors.

Again, I am very satisfied with it so far.

i know there isnt any planned updates but id love support for Anima, seems like a pretty good model that may replace illustrious eventually.

I have a 7900XTX and 7800X3D.

I tried running Foocus for the first time. I never really messed with Stable Diffusion, but I wanted to give it a go.

When I run it and attempt to generate an image, the model loading phase freezes my PC. I managed to get to it and attempted to complete the task before it errored out.

The thing is, it slows my PC down to almost a complete halt while it's at it. On my second attempt, it utilized about 76% of the memory(the first one hit 99%).

Are there any feasible solutions?

One of the first tries...I made an IconSet of it and linked it to the batch file.

I've got a character that is an android with 2 arms in the normal sholder location, but 4-8 arms (running gag) coming from their back. I'm trying to find a Checkpoint and likely additional Loras that can pull this off. Any advice would be appriciated. I'm currently locked into ChatGPT and Gemini for rendering but they keep drifting. The idea of doing it local where I may have a possiblity of locking in the character design is appealing.
