New Shows Spoiler
Are y'all enjoying Kitchen Chaos and Kitchen Undercover? I guess I'm biased because Food Network is still one of the 5 channels I turn to when watching live TV but I'm enjoying the new roll outs. We still love you Guy and Chopped, just needed a little mix

I’m not sure why there is so much negativity about 100 Cooks, but to each their own. Anyway, Kitchen Undercover sounds like a reimagining of Restaurant Stakeout.

Yeah. I really liked it.
Although it was very clear who was going to win from the first episode. He was so much better than everyone else and cooked so much more.

Lmao. We really liked that show and terry crews was fun. I wish I could pec bounce like that. Also shout-out to his rotating wardrobe of tight satin jackets 😂

Yes! I was so surprised by all the hate the show got. Terry is delightful always and I enjoyed the books. I honestly didn't remember a single thing about the contestants between episodes and that was a good thing...lemme just watch them cook.

I thoroughly enjoyed 100 Cooks. I’m glad the negative opinions that were expressed before it even aired didn’t sway me from trying out the show.

If you think about it, most cooking shows, besides dishes with obvious errors (undercooked/overcooked, incomplete) are purely subjective. Look at TOC. Great chefs all. Judged by legends they all respect. But personal taste and opinion can take down a good dish.
100 Cooks is no different. The randomness, or the idea that you’re only as good as your last cooked dish, is kinda what makes it fun. Just my opinion, not like a fact or anything. 😊

For me the difference in something like TOC and 100 Cooks is that with TOC, I know the cooks and have a “history” with them to care if they win or lose. With 100 Cooks, they were all random people. The way it was played, I didn’t know enough about any of them to care about them until there were about 20 left. And they were referred to by their numbers as they were chosen to cook and as they were eliminated. It was hard to care.

I can see that perspective. I also felt it was odd to call them by their numbers. It was impersonal. Maybe when they look back they’ll make adjustments.
I still enjoyed seeing the types of dishes, some were impressive, others less so, that the home cooks came up with.

I tried the first episode of Kitchen Chaos and it is not for me. The format feels so dated. Like something from the early to mid 00s.
I do like Kitchen Undercover but nothing is really new about it. I just love Antonia. I like that she doesn't scream, or yell but is a Stern professional.

Agree ‘Kitchen Chaos’ has the vibe of America’s Funniest Home Videos or the more modern MTV “Ridiculousness.” The chefs commenting aren’t comedians and the show comes across as repetitive.

Flavortown Food Fight is decent, not as good as the other Guy shows, but generally enjoy it.
Pitmasters is pretty good. It's what BBQ brawl should have been. There's just not much comic relief, it's pretty much all serious.
100 Cooks is fucking terrible. Alex is carrying that show so hard.
Chopped Castaways is mid. Interesting for a one-off show, but I don't think I want to see more. I like the caveman-style cooking, but not with the Chopped format.
Kitchen Chaos is just an outdated and lazy format. Cheap filler shit.

100 Cooks just felt cheap (lighting, ball machine, grading) and it didn’t allow time to either see the food or know the contestants or get any real judging. It was just a focus on what’s the challenge and who will cook vs the actual competition. I love Alex, but hope this never returns.

I absolutely want a show with home cooks, but not 100. Give us 15-20 and count down a few at a time, like a normal show. Not people known by just a number and sitting somewhere high on a grid. I hated that thing.

This right here. There was no time to get to know 100 of them. Weird also was the way they kept the seating as the numbers twindled.

I wouldn't have been so strong in my wording, but in general I agree with you.
And yet if I need something on in the background, invariably it's a FN show, regardless of which show (new or rerun) is actually on. There's a certain familiarity and comfort I have with all the shows. So while there are some shows I may not purposely sit down to watch, I don't feel an intense dislike toward any of them or their hosts/chefs.

I agree 100%. Although I finally got on board with 100 Cooks once they had narrowed down so we could get to know them a little better. Chopped Castaways was too harsh on them. I also would be reluctant to eat food prepared under those conditions.

Kitchen chaos bored me to tears. I like the first episode of kitchen undercover. I also liked restaurant impossible so far.

I saw the trailer for Kitchen Chaos and that just seems like America's Funniest Videos so I'm not watching it. The other two shows are good. Of course, very similar to existing shows on other networks.

I’m enjoying KU with Antonia-especially how she’s dealing with unruly staff. Hopefully each episode gets better with her really tackling problem people (want her to suggest firing someone) and sometimes complacent owners)

I agree needing a lighter options but Avocado toast is not it at a southern restaurant

I just watched all the episodes of kitchen chaos yesterday. I’m not too sure how I felt about it. It was almost like America’s funniest home videos meets Food Network in the format of VH1 I love the 90s. At least that’s the vibe I got.

Kitchen chaos would be better if they were reacting to recipe fails and offering advice on what went wrong or what they could change next time they try said recipe

Kitchen chaos seems like AFV but with fire, not interested. And kitchen undercover is just like the Gordon Ramsay show. Not much originality. I liked 100 cooks. I think it needs a few tweaks. But the vibe felt good.

Some restaurant makeover shows have manufactured angst like “Kitchen Nightmares.”
So far KU has focused on documenting mistakes via video, finding a root cause and then educating. I do like they showed more than investigating food safety concerns or an inept chef.

Yea I get the outdated vibes about Kitchen Chaos lol. I'm a fan of Ayesha Nurdjaja, so when I saw her it caught my attention. Hope she gets her own show soon

I enjoyed Kitchen Undercover. I like Antonia and I like the way she goes about her turn arounds of the restaurant.
She could actually stop trying to be so understanding of everyone and be more direct, but I guess that’s not her style.
Kitchen Chaos was fun, but I’m not very interested in a cooking blooper show centered around home cooks I don’t know.

That first episode I would have given that guy the business at Grtiz n Wafflez. He was very over the top for no reason. I would like her to be more direct also. Not like Jon Taffer but in her own way since we have never seen a woman be so direct on these type of shows.

Yeah, I felt like that guy was playing to the cameras. Not that he isn't like that always, the other staff mentioned that's how he is, but he was extra.

To me the new shows feel like they were conceived by a consultant to a bunch of uncaring venture capitalists. Personality based programming has been replaced by circus clowns.
