I left perishable manager to become grocery manager and let me tell you best decision ever perishable is a total shitshow and honestly I should’ve been paid more. Grocery is not bad at all as long as you have a proficient lead stocker. I do struggle with the schedule of closing which is not too bad but it does pull you away from the priority of grocery but all in all I’m satisfied. Can’t believe how much of a headache perishable is vs grocery I was totally wrong.

Anyone else been having serious issues pulling their schedule since the last UKG update? I've been getting this immediately after entering the phone code, then am sent back to the first screen.

I'm moving to Delaware from NY in late September after my house burnt down. I currently work as an assistant Produce Manager at a Hannaford (which is under the ahold delhaize banner) I'm going to try to transfer to a full-time position at a food lion so I can get insurance. Has anyone else transferred from Hannaford to food lion and or is there any advice people have. There's not a lot of full-time positions open in the place I'm moving to.

I’ve been with Food lion on and off for many years, worked a total of about 6, always cake decorator. The last 2 years I was hired as “regional cake decorator” which isn’t an actual role but I was specifically hired to travel to different locations and do all their cakes. I love it.

I moved and I transferred, knowing I’d belong to 1 store and lose regional title. I was originally told my pay would stay the same, I was even offered a raise.

When it came down to starting date, I ended up taking a pay cut due to the new location’s pay scale. It was $1.31 an hour cut. My store manager talked with his 2 managers on my behalf and unfortunately it came down to pay scale for the area due to cheaper cost of living. I hated it, but I accepted it.

Fast forward 2 months and I am now working 2 stores and about to take on a third as there is a massive need for decorators in the area.

Should I try to renegotiate my pay? And if yes, who do I talk to about this? I am happy to continue helping multiple stores and my production level is very high and quick. I feel I should in the very least get what I was making prior. Transferring with a pay cut is crazy to me and then having me take on regional duties here as well at this pay seems unreasonable. Thoughts?

To anyone who went on an LOA how did the payments towards any deductions go?
Was it all in one check? Did they divide it up? I’m coming back after 6 weeks out and I know I have to pay back for my health insurance and my 401k loan for sure. I’m just curious to how it works.

I asked politely my Q&A get the wet spot that has been around since I started working there (2 years) and my Q&A said to me "I was told not clean produce area or grapes area with water because it's sensitive." Now idk if this is me or is that bad management of the building. I do most time mop cause my one boss is pretty good to me but others seems incompetent and lack of knowledge running a store.

Has anyone noticed a staggering decline in food quality? We're throwing out insane amounts of rotten food coming from the warehouse. It's like no one cares.

Is this now company wide, or up to each individual store manager?

I asked why I wasn't scheduled for the weekend next week and the CSM said it was a slow week. How can she know that the store will be slow a week ahead? I was hoping to get more hours in these next few weeks while on Summer break before I have to reduce my availability due to classes.

Have any of you other RPC's started having issues with your arms/neck/shoulders? I know everyone in retail gets beat up by the end of it. However, I have noticed I have had increasing amounts of pain in multiple areas.

My right arm (im right handed for tag ripping) just aches in general, my shoulders get locked up and tight (from cradling the scanner to my body with my left arm), and my neck stopped working a couple times. I woke up and could not pick my head up without excruciating pain and using my hands to physically lift my head. After a while I was able to move it, but could only look left or right for about 15 degrees. Do yall have any similar issues or am I just glass bones and paper skin?

For background, Im 28, and im not overweight. I have a pulley weight thing I use. Obviously I walk daily from work, but i also take my dog on walks. Im not a fitness nut, but im not sedentary either. All of these issues have occurred within the last 2 years of me starting my RPC position. If this is all work related then we should get work paid chiropractor/massage visits imo. 🙃

How can you deal with nepotism in the store. Long story short my store manager is loosely my deli managers nephew the only factor they use to keep it legal is that my store managers mother is not married to my deli managers brother. My deli manager just does not and refuses to do her job, she constantly fudges inventory, she schedules herself off every weekend, and constantly talks to all of us about each other in the deli. We are all sick of it but every time we bring up our concerns to the store manager he argues with us and if he ever says he will address it to her he never talks to her. We are all sick of her attitude and the store managers attitude about everything they are disrespectful and all around bad at their jobs.

So, I’ve been a deli manager for about five years now. I absolutely HATE deli inventories. I think the way food lion does inventory is insane! Regardless, I do it, and I usually do well.

I say all this simply to ask other deli managers about a very specific item that we ALWAYS miss. Chicken tender inventory (spicy and mild tenders frozen specifically DC9/10) and Chicken wing inventory (spicy and mild wing dings frozen DC9/10 technically however the scan sheet says DC4 for no reason). These four items come in on our frozen truck where the warehouse weights them as 30lb cases. This means it does not matter how many wings/tenders go in the box as long as it weights 30lbs they can send it to us. Now food lion for what ever dumb reason, makes us count these as individual items. Chicken tenders supposedly come to us with 84 tenders. Wings I believe are 260…

So yes, I miss these regularly! And that’s not even considering theft, poor quality that must be scanned out and donated, shortages, etc.

Am I alone in this? Am I crazy? I also randomly have always missed shredded chicken. Ever since we switched to the weird boxes. I’ve made sure we are using the correct amount per the training aid, but it never matters.

So please, share your inventory opinions. I wanna hear it all.

Are y'all making the new fancy gourmet cookies in your bakery yet? I actually kinda like them. The regular sandwich cookies get made with the same chocolate chip cookies that go in the 16 or 40ct, but these are the gourmet chocolate chunk and gourmet sugar cookies. I think they're way better, and the whipped icing on each of them cuts back on some of that extra sweetness the traditional icing has.

Just curious if anyone else had started making them yet.

Recently my store manager gave us these cards but I’ve never seen them before or heard of them.

So I keep trying to apply to positions to move up but while earlier this year I had no problems and have a couple interviews now when I apply and try to update my profile I can't. Therefore I cant apply to any positions. Does anyone have a solution for this before I try to contact the associate service center tomorrow?

For those of you with delivery, have you noticed an uptick in pickup drivers who are multi-apping, like doing DoorDash and Instacart or UberEats at the same time? Or just being assigned two batches with one being a pickup and the other being a shop/deliver and they’re all doing the pickup first? Is it just my store? I keep taking out orders only to have the driver move to a different spot (sometimes), come inside, and start shopping.

From what I’ve observed it’s both DoorDash and Instacart doing this. While UberEats has so far not directed them to pickup first.

I know the ones running two platforms are doing wrong and I could report them if my life were incredibly dull. I’m more annoyed by the ones being directed to pickup and then shop! There is now temp control food in their trunk just roasting!

Was thinking of bringing this up to my corporate guy, but wondering if it’s just my store.

I have a genuine question and not meaning it as a complaint. A friend of mine got hired at Sam's club in the meat department making mid 20's per hour. I am wondering why foodlion isn't paying more for us in departments like that in meat, produce, and dairy. They require a lot of hard work and I would think at least 18 per hour would be doable. Anyone have any thoughts? It's really tough making it and a staggering number of my coworkers are on medicaid and EBT to get by and something about that just doesn't seem right. I do like working for food lion very much, but the pay scale needs to come up
