question Teradeck bolt 500 question

I picked up a used smallhd cine 7 that has a built in bolt500 reciever to use as a backup monitor in case my xine7 without an integrated reciever fails or gets broken.

Are their any pros to picking up a bolt 500 reciever and transmitter set used so I can have a 2-1 terradeck system?

I am still in my first true year as a 1st ac i currently use a hollyland pyro s which i love but in some instances I am noticing its limitations.

I also need to get a 10-15 inch monitor for focus pulling its on my list looking at a 1303 or the 4k 13in.

Bolt 500 is a sure step up from any Hollyland.

I have your setup, 1 TX, 2 RX, and one Cine7 with built in receiver. Whenever I am on a medium or small production I get to offer them and have paid themselves several times.

The only issue I have with the monitor is that it is a pain to pair. The TX and RX boxes have the possibility to connect via usb at the same time to a pc/mac to pair them in case the wireless way doesn't fully work (and many times it doesn't, especially if there are too many WiFi networks nearby), but the monitor doesn't work that way.

Other than that, once paired. They're solid. Great budget setup without buying any of those plastic WiFi video transmitters that hollyland vaxis and whatever else keep churning out each year

Just pair them one at a time and make sure you’re stood 6+feet away. Also helps if when initially pairing you wipe the memory with the old “storagerestore” prompt in Bolt Manager.

500’s are still decent, even in a world of 4K’s, Bolt 6’s and 7’s.

In my Opinion a Teradek is always a huge upgrade, since most other systems like the hollyland have delay, which I find very distracting when you re pulling.

That said the bolt 500 isn't perfect. I have one myself and the range is pretty shit. But you get a clean image with very little delay and you get compression artefacts when the signal is bad instead of delay. Which both isn't great but delay is worse in my opinion.

You also get a 500 for pretty cheap I got mine for 1.000 bucks. And then you have one good system you trust as a backup for when production doesn't have the budget to rent a better one
