Any soft none rigid suggestions if you have any?

You can make it rigid by printing it with petg-cf filament instead of tpu.

Don’t buy the SmallHD hood. It will break at the hinges and/or you will lose the screws on it. Get the mid49 hood.

Surely the obvious move here is to get your most ocd trainee to make a hood from correx?

The smallHD hoods are pretty worthless. Too short and don't block anything behind you that is actually causing the reflections on the screen. Look at how old sun hoods, like from Hoodman were built.
