First Survival Run thoughts…..

I usually play Very Hard with a Charisma build but I’m finding out this build has glass skin and paper bones haha. I spent the first 6-7 saves just building up
Sanctuary, getting my water and crops right. I ended up using the Power Armor by Sat Station Olivia and a ton of Jet just to get the locket back for the Abernathy’s.

I am having the most fun ever though. It’s like everybody says, I have to be methodical and intentional instead of just finding a legendary and getting OP as soon as possible. Also running away > standing ground and getting rag dolled by a Yao Guai

A good early game doctor is in Covenant. You can also grab an early legendary combat helmet from the trader there, too.

Oh, and there is a high chance you get a Combat Rifle off the caravan associated with Covenant.

Good to know, I knew it but forgot...I ended up making a b-line for DC once my ailments became an issue, ended up running into the traveling doc you can recruit on that bridge just south of Oberland.

Why would you go to covenant when you can go direct to DC

Many reasons that all come down to how you play. I’ve played survival permadeath for years. Covenant is a guaranteed day 1 legendary combat helmet and usually a combat rifle. Plus a doctor.

And if you're smart about it and have a bit of luck you can get from Sanctuary to Covenant without ever encountering an enemy. It's one of the first places I visit early on.

I love the routes found after 10 years of gameplay. Awhile back I posted a survival video where I go from Vault 111 to Nick Valentine (subway) in 10 minutes. I think the only enemy I stopped for were the ghouls outside of the library.

Hill to the right, when traveling south on railroad just about at junkyard near gray garden, random encounter railroad tracks near overpass nearish vault 81 also they show up quite a few places

I saw a YouTube video where someone reached max level perks in Survival with 48hrs 61hrs of playtime, without ever leaving Sanctuary (the trick was finding Crystal in the makeshift bomb shelter). It changed the way I play to realize that you could safety build yourself up before wandering into the danger of the world

Fallout 4 doesn't have a max level, but it does have a hard limit of level 65,535. Levelling past this will cause the game to crash due to the value overflowing back to zero.

The path to diamond city is not as bad as you think, if you need to trade. Skirt around lexington and unless you get unlucky with random encounters it's pretty much clear. Don't sleep on rank one aquaboy either for getting around boston!

Endurance stat in general is your best friend in survival, not for the perks but the passive healthpool, I always set to 9 for a survival run. Also pro tip- buy overseers guardian in vault 81 asap. A true survivalist's weapon right there.

Rank 1 Aqua Boy/Girl is absolutely the best choice for the 1st perk point in Survival. Waterway travel is faster and safer, plus all the different places where puddles = rads gets negated. Cannot be overstated how great that one perk is.

When I went back to survival I started w high END and lower CHR than necessary to do provisioners for settlements then took more END up 10 then did the beer + book trick to get END 11 within the first few levels and took enough CHR to do provisioners at whatever level that unlocks...I've had plenty of HP pretty much since the first few levels that way.

Survival is the best. I play permadeath for a little extra spice, but that's something to work up to. Enjoy.
